The champion returns: The Zakspeed BKK Mobil Oil Racing team has acquired the services of former champion Jules Gounon (26/F) to spearhead its campaign in the ADAC GT Masters. In the latest edition of PS on Air – The Ravenol ADAC GT Masters Talk, the team from the Eifel region of Germany also confirmed the drivers of its second Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo for the German GT Championship: Hendrik Still (33/Kempenich) and Constantin Schöll (22/A). Zakspeed will also field two cars in ADAC GT4 Germany, each with strong duos at the wheel. Oschersleben hosts the opening round of the new season from 14th to 16th May.

Mercedes-AMG works driver Gounon is returning to the German GT Championship for the first time since winning the title in 2017. He currently has six race wins and three pole positions to his name in the series. “I am delighted to be back in the ADAC GT Masters,” says Gounon. “The series is very close to my heart, as it was here that I had my breakthrough as a GT driver. The fact that I am able to return with an iconic team like Zakspeed is fantastic. I am really looking forward to the season.” The Frenchman’s team-mate will be announced at a later date.

The drivers for the second Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo have both been confirmed. Hendrik Still, who contested his first ADAC GT Masters races with the Eifel-based team last year, will share the car with newcomer Constantin Schöll. This will be the Austrian’s second season in the German GT Championship.

Managing director Philipp Zakowski is optimistic ahead of the new season: “We obviously want to be challenging at the front of the field. It is great that Mercedes-AMG have provided us with such a strong driver as Jules Gounon. We are looking forward to working with him. Hendrik Still impressed us on his outings in 2020. In Constantin Schöll, he has a young and talented team-mate at his side.”

Zakspeed has been racing in the ADAC GT Masters since 2014 and won the Drivers’ Championship in 2015. Last November, the team from Niederzissen won the Sunday race at the Lausitzring.

Promising line-up in ADAC GT4 Germany
The Zakspeed team is expanding its involvement in ADAC GT4 Germany, and will run two Mercedes-AMG GT4 for the first time. The first car will be driven by Jan Marschalkowski (18/Inning), who won the Pirelli Junior competition with Zakspeed in 2020, and GT4 European champion Théo Nouet (18/F). At the wheel of the second car will be Robert Haub (31/USA) and Gabriela Jilkova (26/CZ). The German-American, who lives in Düsseldorf, and the Czech driver won the GT Winter Series at the start of the year.

“We also have two strong pairings in the two cars in ADAC GT4 Germany,” says Philipp Zakowski. “Jan and Théo are two very talented drivers. We want to challenge for the title with them this year. Robert and Gabriela did a g
