The eleventh round of the 2018/2019 ABB FIA Formula E championship takes place in Bern, Switzerland on 22 June 2019. DS TECHEETAH enters the last European round of Season Five as championship leaders for both Drivers’ and Teams’ as well as the leaders of the voestalpine European races.

The 14-turn 1.7-mile track stretches around the Bear Pit area in the Swiss capital. The track starts on Laubeggstrasse where the drivers will head anti-clockwise past the Rosengarten park and down the world-famous Barengraben with a view of the Aare river and the World Unesco Heritage site of the old city centre of Bern.

Jean-Éric Vergne, #25: “June is one of the busiest race months of the year with both Bern and Le Mans, so I’ve prepared myself thoroughly to be able to deliver an apex performance. It will be crucial to score as many points as possible in Bern to be able to enter the Season Five finale in New York with the best circumstances so that’s my goal for this race.”

André Lotterer, #36: “It was a real shame to have a bad race in Berlin, but that’s behind me now and I’m very keen for my first Formula E win before the end of the season. However, the championship is the ultimate goal so that’s where the focus lies, we will collect all the points that can so that we come to New York with a solid foundation. It will be the first time that I experience a Formula E paddock with a split pitlane and garages so this will be interesting. The track looks like good fun and it will suit me.”

Mark Preston, DS TECHEETAH Team Principal: “It’s only the second time in championship history that we race in Switzerland as they had a motorsport ban for 65 years following a horrific accident, so it’s the first time that we race in Bern after our Swiss debut in Zurich last year. It’s a new track and a new location set up as we don’t have the pitlane and the garages in the same place, it’s a similar set up to what we had in Long Beach a couple of years ago. It’s always a challenge with a new track but this adds another level of complexity. Nevertheless, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t aim for a double podium. We’ve got a good package in the DS E-TENSE FE19 and we’ve got two of the quickest drivers in the paddock, so as long as the stars align and we don’t make any mistakes, we should have a good race in Bern.”

Xavier Mestelan Pinon, DS Performance Director: “After our latest podium in Berlin, we took advantage of our Season Six tests to validate improvements for the end of this season. At this stage of the competition, as we are leading both championships, it is very important to be able to offer this extra performance to our drivers.”
