Bia Figueiredo and Katherine Legge secured a sixth-place finish for the No. 57 Caterpillar Acura NSX GT3 in the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix presented by Acura on Sunday.

Making her first appearance at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP), Figueiredo put Heinricher Racing on the second row in Saturday qualifying. Starting today from fourth position, she worked hard to push race pace while managing aggressive Prototype and GTLM traffic. Figueiredo handed the car off in sixth to Legge on a Lap 44 pit stop.

Consistency became key for Legge who fought quickly degrading tires and GTD competition from behind. Legge was able to battle with the Acura and raced in fifth for 63 laps. Continuing to push, Legge laid down her personal best race lap of 1:17.412-seconds on Lap 105.

Following a red flag period and a strong restart, Legge raced hard to hold position and brought the Heinricher Racing No. 57 Caterpillar Acura to the finish sixth in the order.

Heinricher Racing with Meyer Shank Racing will return to on-track action Sunday, July 20th for the Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park.

Team Quotes:

Jackie Heinricher:
“Today was a fight. We fought the tires and heavy traffic throughout the race. I think it does say a lot about the strength of these drivers as they got up on the wheel and earned a sixth-place finish. The consistency we’re showing as a team is really good. We’ll continue to build on that as we push to the podium.”

Bia Figueiredo:
“It has been great being back with Heinricher Racing! We had a great qualifying yesterday and we continued to work on the setup afterwards. The race was a lot of hard work and we were just trying to survive. Luckily, we were able to have a few good moments that made it a good learning experience. Traffic got in our way at the end there causing us to lose a position. These types of races happen, and we can only learn from it and refocus for the next race.”

Katherine Legge:
“It was a disappointing finish. We took a bit of a gamble on the set up. When the car was on new tires it was fast, but we had too much tire degradation to be able to maintain the speed. I was fighting my hardest to hold off the cars behind me when we reached that point. It was a tough race, but we move forward taking what we learned with us.
