Cetilar Racing is set to embark on its second full-season programme in the FIA WEC as the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps kicks-off the 2021 campaign this coming weekend, 29th April/1st May.

The all Italian outfit will field an AF Corse-run Ferrari 488 GTE Evo car for Roberto Lacorte, Giorgio Sernagiotto and newcomer Antonio Fuoco, whilst Andrea Belicchi is set to start his new commitment as drivers’ coordinator.

After switching from the LMP2 Dallara, this is the first outing in a race weekend for Cetilar Racing with a Ferrari 488 GTE Evo, aiming at the Am category honours.

Last year at the iconic 4.35-mile Belgian track, Cetilar Racing secured its best season’s result finishing 8th overall and 5th in the class.

Cetilar Racing has started the weekend with the best time in the today’s Prologue first session, and the fourth in the second session. The 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps is the first out of six rounds of the 2021 calendar, followed by 8 Hours of Portimão and 6 Hours of Monza. The 89th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans – the fifth forteam Cetilar Racing -will mark the turning point on August, before the 6 Hours of Fuji and 8 Hours of Bahrain late next November.

Action at Spa continues tomorrow with the second of two-day official test. Free practice sessions will be held on Thursday and Friday. Qualifying gets underway on Friday too, at 18.20. The 6-hour race will commence on Saturday at 13.30.

“To start the season at Spa is very exciting. Our Ferrari 488 GTE is very performant on this track”, Roberto Lacorte said. “We just need to keep the confidence driving a car that obviously is different from the one we used in the previous seasons.”

“To return to the FIA WEC, driving a competitive car is very exciting”, Giorgio Sernagiotto commented. “I think we have the potential to have high expectation.”

“This is the first time I race at Spa with a GT car. I have a good feeling, but we still have to work to improve our race pace”, added Antonio Fuoco.
