Following the drama on Wednesday, team Cetilar Racing has celebrated the LMGTE Am second row as the #47 Ferrari 488 GTE is set to make its first appearance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans – the 89th edition of the race and the fifth consecutive for the Italian squad as well as for Roberto Lacorte and Giorgio Sernagiotto, who share driving duties with newcomer Antonio Fuoco.

Fuoco started the week with an incident in the first free practice due to a contact with a LMP2 car at Tertre Rouge. After that the team run by AF Corse worked hard to let the Italian racer to take part in the qualifying, when he finished third of the class and quickest among the Ferrari drivers, only two milliseconds slower the GR Racing’s Porsche.

Yesterday Cetilar Racing showed well again, with Fuoco fourth in the LMGTE Am and once more fastest among Ferraris in the Hyperpole open to the best six drivers of the qualifying – when he used the second of two available tyre sets. A time he could further improve without the pit wall decision to not take more risks.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans started with the right mood, aiming to chase more points for confirming the class lead in the FIA WEC Championship that heads to the fourth out of six seasonal rounds.

“We ended free practice and qualifying with good response in terms of reliability and speed. In these conditions it’s easy to give the best”, Roberto Lacorte commented. “We’re ready. We have everything to do well. We’ll start the race with respect and the right spirit to face all the different situations a so long race requires. We are leading the standings, although our rivals are very competitive. Taking a good result here means seriously considering more title chances as the 24 Hours of Le Mans awards double points.”

After a one-day break, the warm-up session will kick-off action tomorrow at 11.30. The 24 Hours of Le Mans will start at 4 pm.
