CETILAR RACING PREPARES FIA WEC ASSAULT AS THE WORLD ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP HEADS THIS WEEKEND TO FUJI

Cetilar Racing team is all set for the second round of the FIA WEC Championship, scheduled this weekend (4th/5th/6th October) at the historical Fuji circuit. After making their debut taking a sixth-place finish in the LMP2 class at Silverstone, Roberto Lacorte, Giorgio Sernagiotto and Andrea Belicchi – sharing the AF Corse-powered Dallara #47 – are ready for the first of the Asian races.

Lacorte and Sernagiotto will be making their first appearance at the Japanese venue, whilst Belicchi has already raced there in 2012, 2013 – when he claimed a brilliant third overall position driving a LMP1 car – as well as the following year.

At the 4,563-meter track located near the homonym mountain, about one hundred kms south of Tokyo, some motorsport milestones have been achieved. One of them is the James Hunt Vs Niki Lauda final challenge in 1976. Cetilar Racing enters the history, looking for a confirmation after taking a result that went beyond the expectations in the inaugural 4-hour race, despite a technical gap.

On the British soil, the all-Italian team led by Sporting Director Philippe Dumas didn’t make any mistake, continuing to develope the car for the rest of the season consisting in eigh events, with the grand finale in 2020 at 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The round of Fuji is the first 6-hour race of the calendar, followed by Saõ Paulo (Brazil) and Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium), scheduled early next February and late April.

The race weekend starts on Friday, with the first two free practice sessions, followed by FP3 on Saturday just before the qualifying. The race gets underway on Sunday at 11am local time (at 4am in Italy).

Tomorrow, Wednesday 2 October, an official meeting will be held at the “Camera di Commercio Italiana in Giappone”, in the presence of General Secretary Davide Fantoni, the ICCJ staff and the local press.
