An awesome weekend in the relentless heat of Malaysia’s Sepang Circuit for B-Quik Racing Co. Ltd. TM (“B-Quik Racing”) which finished with a double podium for our Audi entries in both the Super Car GT3 races and that was capped off with an inch perfect victory by Henk Kiks and Daniel Bilski in Race 2 in our brand new #26 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo.

We came into the opening round of Thailand Super Series (“TSS”) 2019 off the back of a stunning AM win here two weeks ago during our first participation in Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia; that victory also coming courtesy of Henk and Daniel in an event where we debuted our new ‘Evo’.

So, it was really ‘game on’ to build on that result and build on it we did! In Race 1 Henk and Daniel were targeting the win before a pitstop infringement meant the #26 car had to serve a 1 second stationary penalty that ended our chance of victory.

However, they got the hammer down to finish P3 and then in Sunday’s Race 2 they went two places better. The pair couldn’t have performed any more impressively over the 1-hour duration race and they were backed up by perfect strategy from the pitwall and a perfect pitstop by our crew.

Overall victory was just reward for everyone’s efforts and the two results put Henk and Daniel into the lead of the Drivers’ championship with one round completed. Adding icing to the cake, they also claimed the GT3 AM Cup trophy in both races.

In our #2 Audi R8 LMS Ultra GT3 entry 24-year-old Sandy Stuvik was paired with 23-year-old Shaun Thong. The two young drivers gelled superbly and were very quickly on the pace, Sandy in fact bagging pole position for Race 1, a perfect way to start his first ever race driving an Audi.

Sandy and Shaun claimed second place in Race 1 after leading from the green lights but then having to fight back after a mid-race tyre issue cost time. They grabbed third place in Race 2, but it could have been a second straight runners up finish if the race had continued on for a few hundred metres more as the gap to the second placed Lamborghini, which they were reeling in, was just 0.139 seconds at the chequered flag. It was an excellent way to kick off their debuts with us.

That 1-3 finish in Race 2 finish meant we claimed the Teams’ trophy and, adding extra icing to the cake, Henk and Daniel also won the GT3 AM Cup in both races.

We also leave Sepang with Henk and Daniel leading the Drivers’ championship while B-Quik Racing is top of the Teams’ standings. It really was a terrific weekend for our Audi programme.

The “Tier 2” driver roster of the “B-Quik Junior Programme” were in action in TA2 Thailand, Narin Naeosathon and Sathaporn Veerachue driving our #261 Dodge Challenger. They got stuck in, enjoyed some real door-to-door battles with other competitors and so it was job done with plenty learnt.

Finally, in Super Car GTC Ian Geekie was back with us in the #18 Porsche but he endured a tough weekend but – as ever with this experienced and hard charging driver – he battled back from pitlane starts to nail down P6 in both races.

Next up for B-Quik Racing is the second round of Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia which will take place on our ‘home soil’, at Buriram’s Chang International Circuit, in a little under three weeks’ time (10-12 May).
