B-Quik Absolute Racing returns to Chang International Circuit next weekend (23-26 December) for the final round of Thailand Super Series 2021 with the fight for the Super Car GT3 Drivers’ and Teams’ titles in the balance and with all to play for.
The 2021 season kicked off in October, also in Buriram, with Round 1 comprising a double header and the team made a robust start to the delayed season as it aims to make it an unprecedented hattrick of titles in Super Car GT3, having swept both the Drivers’ and Teams’ crowns in 2019 and 2020.
With a win and a strong points haul from the opener B-Quik Absolute Racing now approachs the final round – which is a triple header and thus offers a triple helping of points – with a very slender lead in the Teams’ championship while Daniel Bilski and Martin Rump in our #26 Audi are joint leaders in the Drivers’ standings.
We have tweaked the driver roster for our Audi R8 LMS GT3s for the season closer. While the #26 car’s line up of Daniel and Martin remains unchanged (the former is chasing a second consecutive Drivers’ title) we have made a change to the #1 car as Sandy Stuvik, the 2019 and 2020 Drivers’ champion, is joined by young Sri Lankan driver Eshan Pieris.
We have high hopes for Eshan, who brings both single seater and sportscar experience to the cockpit, as Sandy looks to get his championship defence back on track following a tough opening round that has left him with ground to make up. However, with a maximum of 60 points on offer next weekend we expect Sandy to be up there and right in the title mix come the end of Sunday.
Eshan has a steep learning curve ahead as he gets acclimatized to the Audi, the circuit and the team as well as blowing off the cobwebs following a two season career hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In Super Car GTM Warren Adulayavichitr, who did a great job on his GTM debut in Round 1, continues in our Porsche 991 GT3 Cup, but for the season closer he will be joined by his brother Andrew and that will create a well balanced and pacey driver line up.
The B-Quik Junior Porgramme will also be in action, Adisak Tangphuncharoen and Attapon Kaew-arsa will drive our Honda Brios, supported along the way by an exqually junior crew.
Sandy Stuvik: “It has been a challenging beginning to the season, but I aim to finish it on a high. I’ll be focusing on each individual race as it is, and giving it my all every time I’m behind the wheel. We have good data to work from and I’m confident that together with B-Quik Absolute Racing, we will bring our best package for the season finale.”
Daniel Bilski: “After a solid start to the season, we are massively excited for the TSS triple-header season finale. The challenges faced by all teams and drivers this year have been huge, but we are ready and more motivated than ever to perform. It’s going to be intense, as always, but we will bring every last bit of commitment. Every team, every driver will be doing the same, so we head into the weekend determined to fight hard for every point. With only a few days left before the event starts, everyone in the team is laser focused on what needs to be done. Three races over the weekend will be tough, but we are ready and determined to give our all.”
Martin Rump: “With a strong start to the season, we’re right up there in the title fight. We aim to carry this positive momentum into the season finale. I expect everybody will be making steps forward throughout the long weekend ahead, so whoever finds more incremental improvements will have the edge. We’ll need to do our best one stint at a time, lap by lap, corner by corner, find a good rhythm and execute. I’ve full confidence in the team and our package to go for the title.”
Eshan Pieris: “I’m keen to be back in a race car with B-Quik Absolute Racing in the Thailand Super Series. I’ve heard so much about the team and so I’m excited to see what we can achieve together. I’m thankful to B-Quik Absolute Racing for this opportunity!”
