The Spaniard will contest another round of the 24H GT Series at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve. Tutumlu will drive a Car Collection Motorsport-run Audi R8 LMS with Ali Çapan, Siegfried Kuzdas and Stefan Aust as teammates. Portimão is the second 24-hour race of the season for the Barcelona native.
Isaac Tutumlu will head to Portugal for another round of the 24H GT Series, which also counts for the “Championship of the Continents”: the 24 hours of Portimão. As on previous occasions earlier this season, the Spaniard will be driving an Audi R8 LMS of Car Collection Motorsport. Tutumlu’s teammates will be Turkish Ali Çapan, Austrian Siegfried Kuzdas and German Stefan Aust, a competitive driver line-up for fighting for top honours in the A6-AM class.
The Autódromo Internacional do Algarve features several elevation changes and blind turns making it a challenge for any driver. Portuguese really likes the Portuguese venue as explains in his own words: “Portimão brings me great memories back. In 2013 I stepped onto the rostrum in the GTS class while competing in the International GT Open with an Autorlando Porsche 997 GT3 R. The following year was even better as I posted the pole position time in qualifying with a SRT-run Chevrolet Corvette and I stormed to the win later with Maxime Soulet. I really love this circuit because good drivers make the difference.” Tutumlu adds: “I’m looking forward to starting another weekend of racing there, but I know it’s going to be a tough weekend. Temperatures are extremely hot in Algarve right now, so our stints will be quite hard and extenuating. The key factor will be to keep an optimal race trim avoiding losing time while lapping backmakers. If we manage to complete a trouble-free event, I have no doubts we will be in A6-AM podium contention. I will give my best to help my gentlemen teammates to achieve a good result, which they really deserve.”
With a 40-car field, Friday’s qualifying session will take place at 17.20 (CET). The 24 hours will get underway at 16.00 (CET) on Saturday.
