Di Grassi Quickest Again as Lynn Crashes in FP2

Lucas di Grassi topped the time sheets again in Free Practice 2 in Mexico, following an accident for Alex Lynn that brought the session to a halt.

Lynn slammed his DS Virgin Racing entry into the wall after attempting to pass Felix Rosenqvist on the exit of the stadium section, but got caught out off the racing line.

It resulted in significant front and left-hand side damage to his DS Virgin DSV-03, although the Englishman escaped injury.

The session restarted with less than two minutes remaining but did not see any major improvements.

Di Grassi’s 1:01.203 time in the No. 1 Audi e-tron FE04 was less than one-tenth slower than his pace-setting time from the cooler FP1 session this morning.

Rosenqvist ended the 30-minute FP2 second quickest, followed by Mitch Evans for Panasonic Jaguar Racing in third and Nick Heidfeld fourth in the sister Mahindra Racing entry.

Lynn was credited with the fifth quickest time, prior to his accident.

The top-16 was separated by less than one-second.

Jose Maria Lopez also found the wall in FP2, but with significantly less damage to his Penske EV-2, after running wide at the exit of Turn 5 early in the session.

Qualifying gets underway at 12 p.m., followed by Super Pole at 12:45 p.m.
