Di Grassi fastest in first practice
Lucas di Grassi had the perfect start on his drive to the Formula E title, by setting the pace in the first free practice session for the second Hydro-Quebec Montreal ePrix.
The Abt Schaeffler Audi Sport driver, who holds an 18-point lead in the championship, set a new unofficial lap record of 1:21.442 to put himself at the top of the times.
At a minimum Sebastien Buemi needs to be on the podium of this afternoon’s race to stand a chance of winning the title and he was third fastest, 0.7s behind. His Renault e.dams team-mate Nico Prost was second quickest, with a lap of 1:21.840.
Andretti’s Antonio Felix da Costa paid a rare visit to the top six in fourth, just ahead of Felix Rosenqvist (Mahindra) and Jose Maria Lopez (DS Virgin Racin).
The final practice session of the 2016/17 season takes places at 10.30am (local time).
