Paul Miller Racing are ready to tackle the final IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race of 2022 at the team’s home track of Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.
The team has already clinched the 2022 IMSA Sprint Cup Championship, following stellar performances in races two hours, 40 minutes or less—including wins at the Long Beach Grand Prix and at Lime Rock Park—but will now face the final endurance race of the year, the 10-hour Petit Le Mans.
Full-season drivers Madison Snow and Atlanta-area resident Bryan Sellers will be joined by Swedish BMW ace Erik Johansson for the final race of 2022 aboard the No. 1 Quartz Engine Oil-backed machine. The trio suffered misfortunes in their prior two outings, being taken out of contention by an LMP2 car at Sebring and a fellow GTD car at Watkins Glen.
The 2020 Rolex 24 at Daytona-winning team is looking to bounce back to their endurance-racing ways and take their first Petit Le Mans victory together to close out their first season with the all-new BMW M4 GT3.
“This is the home race for our team, our incredible crew works just 20 minutes from the front gate at Road Atlanta and I know many of them will have friends and family attending the race, so of course we want to get a good result in front of all of them,” Paul Miller Racing team owner, Paul Miller, said.
“It’s been a great season so far, with claiming the Sprint Cup and two victories, but we really want to end the year with an endurance race result. Missing Daytona and having such misfortunes in Sebring and Watkins, we’re definitely hungry to make sure we end the year strong at Petit.”
Madison Snow
“Petit is one of the best races IMSA has. It’s very challenging, but the track has such great flow that it makes it great to race on. The difficulty at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta in letting faster class cars by makes it unlike any other track we race at, especially with all five classes racing this weekend. With the competition so high in IMSA right now, you really have to run this race like a sprint race and can’t afford issues—but doing that for 10 hours proves difficult for even the best teams! We’ve finished on the podium here before but I have never won the race with PMR. Hopefully this year we can change that!”
Bryan Sellers
“Petit to me is the most challenging event on the schedule and one most people circle on their calendar as one they want to win. The length of the race almost perfectly balances endurance racing with a sprint mentality. We have had good races in the past, but have never been able to seal the race win. Hopefully this year we will be in a position where we are competitive enough to have a chance!”
Erik Johansson
“After winning the Sprint Cup, the aim for PMR is to end the season on a high at Road Atlanta. It will mark my first start in Petit, which is something I’ve personally dreamt of since I started my career and to end the season at such a great track like Road Atlanta will be amazing. Together with the guys in the team, I am sure we can bring our best and fight for a strong result. I believe the high speed nature of the track will suit our BMW M4 GT3, so let’s hope for a clean race. It’s something we have been missing in this year’s Endurance Cup.”
