MOORESVILLE, N.C. – The Motorsports Group and Circle Sport are ending their Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series partnership, effective immediately.

The decision to end the partnership came Monday from Circle Sport owner Joe Falk. As a result Jeffrey Earnhardt, who drove for the team throughout 2017, will not return.

“We wish them the best,” said The Motorsports Group owner Curtis Key Sr. “I will continue this journey and look to rebound in 2018.”

The Motorsports Group teamed up with Circle Sport in January in order to utilize the charter currently owned by Falk. The team competed in all 36 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series races, with Earnhardt driving the No. 33 entry in 34 races while Boris Said competed in the two road course events.

Eddie Pardue will remain with The Motorsports Group as crew chief after joining the team late in the 2017 season.

“Eddie and I have known each other for a long time, since the Busch Series days, and I’m happy that he will continue on with us,” Key said.

The Motorsports Group is currently looking for a driver and sponsor in order to compete at Daytona Int’l Speedway in February.

“This is sudden for us but we put a plan together rather quickly,” said Key. “We’ve had discussions with potential drivers but it’s only been a day since the news and we have more calls to make. We look to have a drive announced in early January.”
