Rhodes Breaks Through In Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS — Ben Rhodes held off a last-lap charge from Christopher Bell to win Saturday night’s Las Vegas 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Rhodes led the final 20 laps to claim his first series victory and punch his ticket into the second round of the playoffs, while Bell, who won the previous week at New Hampshire Motor Speedway finished second after leading a race-high 64 laps of the 1.5-mile superspeedway.
“I have no idea how I did it. I knew if I could keep him close to me, he couldn’t break the bubble,” Rhodes said. “I think that the most nervous thing I have ever done in my life…This is the biggest high of my life. I never thought it would come, but now we are here in victory lane.”
Rhodes finished .066 seconds ahead of Bell.
“I am bummed for our guys, they did an awesome job preparing this truck, they did their job, I just didn’t do mine,” Bell said.
Brad Keselowski Racing teammates Chase Briscoe and Austin Cindric finished third
