DOVER, Del. — Race two of the NASCAR XFINITY Series playoffs was another case of utter domination by a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series regular Saturday afternoon at Dover Int’l Speedway.

Ryan Blaney led 136 of the 200 laps in the Use Your Melon, Drive Sober 200 and beat top-finishing title contender Justin Allgaier to the checkered flag by 4.8 seconds.

Driving the No. 22 Team Penske Ford, Blaney led all 73 laps of the final stage as the final segment went caution-free on the one-mile concrete oval known as The Monster Mile.

It was Blaney’s fifth NASCAR XFINITY Series victory.

“What a car. It was pretty neat to be able to finish one off,” Blaney said. “We’ve been really close with this 22 team all year and hadn’t been able to get a win, so, hopefully, this makes up for a lot of those.”

Allgaier brought his JR Motorsports Chevrolet home second and he leads the standings.

“All in all our day was good. Our car was good, but we needed a little more short-run speed. We weren’t able to fire off as well as we would have liked. I was able to stay ahead of William there and that was the difference maker. We knew the long run was our strength.”

Allgaier’s teammate William Byron, also a championship contender, finished third after winning the pole and leading 62 laps.

“We needed a couple restarts, but overall it was a really good day for us,” Byron said. “The car had a lot of speed, but it was kind of hard to pass and one groove.”

Chevrolet drivers Daniel Hemric and Brennan Poole, who are also playoff participants, finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

Byron won the first stage and Blaney won the second stage.
