Two Furniture Row Crew Members Suspended

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — Joe Gibbs Racing has suspended two crew members from the No. 78 Furniture Row Racing team for three races.

Strange as that sounds it may be true as the Furniture Row crew that pits Martin Truex Jr.’s Toyota is managed by Joe Gibbs Racing.

The suspensions come as the result of a confrontation between members of the Front Row crew and crew members from Joe Gibbs Racing, including crew chief Adam Stevens, following a crash that eliminated Truex and JGR driver Kyle Busch from the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Rear-tire changer Lee Cunningham and front-tire changer Chris Taylor will begin serving their suspensions this weekend at Pocono Raceway.

Furniture Row Racing owner Barney Visser issued a statement in regard to the action.

“Our No. 78 pit crew is hired, trained and managed by Joe Gibbs Racing,” Visser said. “They are one of the best pit crews on the circuit and have kept us up front all season. We admire the talent and dedication of our pit crew and support all of the decisions and actions taken by Joe Gibbs Racing.”
