DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Chris Gayle, crew chief for Furniture Row Racing driver Erik Jones has been fined $50,000 and suspended for two Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series races.

The No. 77 Toyota driven to an eighth-place finish by Jones during the Overton’s 400 at Pennsylvania’s Pocono Raceway, was found to have a rear suspension that violated the NASCAR rulebook.

In addition, the team was docked 25 owner and driver points, which dropped Jones, who is a rookie in the series, below the current cut-off line to qualify for the playoffs.

Overton’s 400 winner Kyle Busch was among other teams penalized for lug-nut violations following the event.

Busch’s crew chief, Adam Stevens, Brian Pattie, who calls the shots on the Roush Fenway Racing Ford driven by Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Matt Puccia, crew chief for Roush Fenway driver Trevor Bayne were all fined $10,000 as a result.

Phil Gould, crew chief for Ryan Reed in the XFINITY Series was fined $5,000 for a similar violation that occurred at Iowa Spedway, while Trip Bruce was docked $2,500 for a lug-nut violation on the Camping World Truck Series machine piloted by Stewart Friesen.
