AUDI IN DTM TITLE FIGHT UNTIL THE FINALE

The 2021 DTM season has come to an end at the Norisring with an exciting final weekend and the title not being decided until the very last of 16 races. Kelvin van der Linde celebrates third place overall in Team ABT Sportsline’s Audi R8 LMS, while the first prominent newcomer for 2022 has already been confirmed: Audi driver and three-time DTM champion René Rast returns to the grid.

DTM TITLE SLIPS AWAY FROM LAWSON AT THE NORISRING

Liam Lawson suffered a bitter conclusion to the last round of the DTM, held today at the Norisring. Setting off from pole, the Red Bull AF Corse driver saw all his hopes of becoming the German series’ youngest ever champion dashed after a collision at the first turn. In a move similar to the one made in Race-1, Kelvin Van der Linde collided with Lawson once again, damaging the steering arm and almost pushing him into the wall.

DONINGTON PARK WEEKEND SENDS PORSCHE CARRERA CUP GB CHAMPIONSHIP BATTLES DOWN TO THE WIRE

Porsche Carrera Cup GB – the fastest single marque GT racing championship in the UK – arrived at Donington Park for the penultimate weekend of the season. Dan Cammish (Redline Racing) and Lorcan Hanafin (JTR) were separated by just three points in what would prove a crucial weekend in deciding the 2021 championship. The weekend was also notable for the arrival of Am category newcomer Ian Humphris (Valluga Racing), Humphris progresses up the Porsche Motorsport GB pyramid from Porsche Visit Cayman Islands Sprint Challenge GB.

PORSCHE CARRERA CUP NORTH AMERICA BATTLE INTENSIFIES IN VIRGINIA AS VAN BERLO RETURNS TO VICTORY LANE

The Porsche Carrera Cup North America Presented by the Cayman Islands championship battles intensified in Virginia as Kay van Berlo (Netherlands) earned the Pro class victory in Round 12 of the 16-round premier one-make championship. 28 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race cars took the green flag in the first of two, 45-minute races at VIRginia International Raceway (VIR) on Saturday, October 9 across three classes – Pro, Pro-Am, Pro-Am 991 – at the classic Alton, Virginia race track.  The 3.27-mile, 17-turn track will host Round 13 on Sunday.

ROOT RETURNS TO INDIANAPOLIS 8 HOUR WITH WRIGHT MOTORSPORTS

The season finale of the Fanatec GT World Challenge America presented by aws takes place October 15 – 17 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and Wright Motorsports has completed its driver lineup for the eight-hour endurance event. Fred Poordad and Jan Heylen, the 2021 Pro/Am Driver Champions, will be joined by 2020 Champion Max Root for the SRO Indianapolis 8 Hour in the No. 20 Porsche 911 GT3 R.

K-PAX RACING CONCLUDES 2021 WITH INDIANAPOLIS 8 HOURS

Since its championship campaign in 2016, K-PAX Racing has annually tested the limits by competing in both sprint-race formats as well as adding endurance-focused events, which included a full schedule of longer races seen in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup in 2020. After a nearly complete season of racing the 90-minute race format in SRO’s American-based series, the team will again be competing in the longer-form racing, entering a two-car Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO effort for its second consecutive appearance October 15-17 at the Indianapolis 8 Hours held in the “Racing Capital of The World.”

SMITHSON, KEATING, AND MERRILL JOIN DXDT RACING FOR INDIANAPOLIS 8 HOUR

The 2021 Fanatec GT World Challenge America presented by aws championship draws to a close next week at the hallowed grounds of Indianapolis Motor Speedway, ending the season with the longest race of the year, the Indianapolis 8 Hour. Three Mercedes AMG GT3 cars will represent DXDT Racing in the season finale, expanding from their two-driver lineups to three as the teams prepare for the endurance event. Scott Smithson, Ben Keating, and Thomas Merrill will join the team, completing the lineups on the team’s trio of Mercedes AMG GT3 race cars. CJ Moses will also return to race his Mercedes AMG GT3 in GT America, and Kevin Boehm will close out his TC America season in the No. 9 Honda Civic Type R.
