NICKI THIIM TO MAKE DTM DEBUT IN SECOND T3 MOTORSPORT LAMBORGHINI

Following in the footsteps of his successful father: Nicki Thiim, a two-time FIA World Endurance Champion and the son of former DTM champion Kurt Thiim, will be racing in DTM for the first time. The 32-year-old Dane will be competing in the 16 sprint races of the long-standing series with a Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO run by the T3 Motorsport team from Dresden. The 2022 DTM season is getting its season underway at Portimão (POR) from 29 April until 1 May.

EASTALENT-RACING ENTERS THE ADAC GT MASTERS WITH AN AUDI R8 LMS GT3 EVO II

New team, new car, and a highly-motivated team: Eastalent-Racing, which was formed in December 2021, will go in pursuit of points with great vigour in the team’s first season in the ADAC GT Masters. Sharing the driving duties in the new Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II will be Norbert Siedler (39/A) and Simon Reicher (22/A). The two Austrians are an established pairing, having raced alongside each other in the German GT Championship for the past two years. This season’s ADAC GT Masters gets underway from 22nd to 24th April at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben.

ERA MOTORSPORT RETURNS TO THE PODIUM IN CHALLENGING SEBRING TWELVE HOUR

Era Motorsport returned to the podium at Sebring International Raceway for the second consecutive year on Saturday evening, braving hot temperatures to finish third place at the always challenging Twelve Hours of Sebring. Drivers Dwight Merriman, Ryan Dalziel, and Kyle Tilley raced all twelve hours of the second round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship without air conditioning in the No. 18 Oreca, surviving a calamity-filled race to earn their first podium of the 2022 season.

WRIGHT MOTORSPORTS REBOUNDS FROM EARLY RACE CHALLENGE FOR TOP TEN SEBRING FINISH

The Twelve Hours of Sebring on Saturday was a character-building race for Wright Motorsports. The Ohio-based team managed to rebound from an early-race setback to earn a top-ten finish in the No. 16 Porsche 911 GT3 R. After twelve punishing hours at the Sebring, Florida raceway, drivers Ryan Hardwick, Jan Heylen, and Zacharie Robichon brought the car home in tenth-place.

PORSCHE WINS THE GTE-PRO CLASS AT THE WEC SEASON OPENER AT SEBRING

The Porsche GT Team has kicked off the new season of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) with a victory at the Sebring International Raceway. Michael Christensen from Denmark and Frenchman Kévin Estre won the GTE-Pro class at the 1,000-mile race in the US state of Florida ahead of the Corvette crewed by Nick Tandy (Great Britain) and American Tommy Milner. Richard Lietz from Austria and Italy’s Gianmaria Bruni finished third with their ca. 378 kW (515 PS) 911 RSR. The eight-hour WEC race had to be halted and ultimately discontinued a good 60 minutes before the end of the race due to a thunderstorm warning. In the GTE-Am class, American Brendan Iribe and the two British racing drivers Ollie Millroy and Ben Barnicoat finished third with the identical 911 fielded by the Project 1 customer team.

PORSCHE TACKLES THE SEBRING 12 HOUR FROM POLE POSITION

The Porsche 911 GT3 R showed its full strength in qualifying for the 12 Hours of Sebring. At the wheel of the No. 16 car fielded by the customer team Wright Motorsports, Zacharie Robichon turned the fastest lap in the GTD class. For the race, the Canadian shares driving duties in the nine-eleven with Jan Heylen from Belgium and Ryan Hardwick from the USA. In January, the trio had won the 24 Hours of Daytona with Porsche works driver Richard Lietz (Austria) and thus took the lead of the championship. The two 911 GT3 R in the GTD-Pro class qualified on positions five and ten.

VAN BERLO SWEEPS PORSCHE CARRERA CUP NORTH AMERICA AT SEBRING

Kay van Berlo (Netherlands) successfully swept the first two rounds of the 16-race Porsche Carrera Cup North America Presented by the Cayman Islands season. The second-year Pro class driver of the No. 3 Kelly-Moss Road and Race Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race car charged from pole position to victory lane in both the 40-minute season-opening rounds today at Sebring International Raceway. Rookie driver Mark Kvamme (Columbus, Ohio) was also a green-to-checkered winner for the Am class in both rounds piloting the No. 43 MDK Motorsports Porsche. Kelly-Moss teammates Alan Metni (Austin, Texas) in the No. 99 and Efrin Castro (Dominican Republic) in the No. 65 split the Pro-Am class victories in Sebring, Florida on March 17.
