STRONG PERFORMANCE FROM THE BMW iFE.18 AT VALENCIA

BMW i Andretti Motorsport kicked off the official test drives for the ABB FIA Formula E Championship at Valencia (ESP) with very good results. At the “Circuit Ricardo Tormo”, both BMW works drivers Alexander Sims (GBR) and António Félix da Costa (POR) set a best time of the day each at the wheel of their BMW iFE.18 cars. Sims was the fastest driver in the field on Tuesday, with a time of 1:17.553 minutes. On Wednesday, Félix da Costa topped the combined rankings with a best time of 1:16.977 minutes. The two drivers completed a total of 312 laps. BMW i Andretti Motorsport will continue testing on Friday.

WRIGHT MOTORSPORTS SET FOR A CALIFORNIA EIGHT HOUR RETURN WITH AN ALL FACTORY DRIVER LINEUP

Following a whirlwind of a 2018 season, Wright Motorsports has confirmed their return to the Intercontinental GT Challenge’s (IGTC) California 8 Hour at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca with a single GT3 entry. The all-factory driver lineup will feature Romain Dumas (France), Dirk Werner (Germany) and Fred Makowiecki (France) the wheel of the No. 911 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R.

ABT AND DI GRASSI TEST NEW AUDI E-TRON FE05

It is the only comparison with the competition before the ABB FIA Formula E Championship starts its new season in mid-December: Until coming Friday, all eleven teams are meeting for the official pre-season tests of the racing series in Valencia. The big moment has arrived: the 2018 season is about to come to an end! As per tradition, it is the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya hosting the final and decisive round. No less customary is indeed the fact that the title is decided at Montmeló. It has been the case in 12 out of 13 editions so far, including the current one, which will offer an exciting three-way battle. The overall crown is not the only one still at stake: the battle is going to be close and fierce also in the Pro-Am and Am classes and in the Teams’ standings.

CHRISTIAN HAHN STEPS UP TO GT OPEN IN A DRIVEX MERCEDES TEAMING UP WITH AUER

Brazilian driver Christian Hahn will make his International GT Open debut next weekend at the wheel of a Drivex-entered Mercedes AMG GT3. This event will be Hahn’s first attempt of GT3 racing after the 20-year-old driver spent two seasons involved in Formula 3 with Drivex. Hahn has now set his sight on following his father Marcelo Hahn into the International GT Open at the wheel of a Mercedes-built car.

SIMS SECURES FOURTH PLACE AT ROAD ATLANTA AND SIXTH OVERALL IN 2018 IMSA WEATHERTECH SPORTSCAR CHAMPIONSHIP

Alexander Sims claimed a fourth-place finish in the GTLM class of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at the final round of the season on 14 October 2018. The Warwickshire-based driver and his BMW Team RLL team-mates guided the No. 25 BMW M8 GTE around the Road Atlanta track in Georgia, USA, for the ten-hour Motul Petit Le Mans endurance event, completing 419 laps of the 2.54-mile, 12-turn circuit.

The fourth meeting of the FIA WEC Super Season started on Friday, October 12th with the first two free practices. Both sessions were disrupted by red flags because of track problems, making the preparation of the cars more complicated than expected. Following the third and final free practice, a technical problem was detected on the R-13 N.3 and required the intervention of the entire Team to change both the engine block and the gearbox. The teams worked for nearly three hours to put the car back on track for the qualifying session and managed to achieve the fourth overall time.
