TITLE RACE IN THE ADAC GT MASTERS: CAN ANYONE STOP MARCIELLO

One finale – at stake at the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg from 21st to 23rd October is nothing less than the title in the 2022 German GT Championship. Seven drivers in Mercedes-AMG, Porsche and Lamborghini cars are still in with a mathematical chance of taking overall victory. The man to catch is Raffaele Marciello (27/CH) from Mann-Filter Team Landgraf: the Mercedes-AMG works driver tops the Drivers’ Championship with a comfortable 42-point lead. But will that be enough to be crowned champion in the fastest GT3 series in Germany? 56 points are still up for grabs at the finale. Marciello’s closest rivals are Christian Engelhart (35/Starnberg) and Ayhancan Güven (24/TR) from the Joos Sportwagentechnik team – despite the deficit, the Porsche drivers refuse to accept defeat. Also hanging onto their slim hopes are third-placed Fabian Schiller (25/Troisdorf) and Jules Gounon (27/F) in the #4 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo. Trailing their fellow Mercedes-AMG driver at the top of the championship by 53 points, they still have a mathematical chance of snatching the trophy. It is a similar story for Jack Aitken (26/GB) and Albert Costa Balboa (32/E) from Emil Frey Racing in the #63 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo, who lie a further point back in fourth place.

Title hopeful Will Martin (Comline Richardson Racing) was involved in a dramatic incident which ended the penultimate race of the season prematurely, while Charles Rainford (CCK Motorsport) secured a popular maiden victory in the final.

Works driver Thomas Preining turned heads recently with a strong result and spectacular overtaking manoeuvres. The Austrian concluded the 2022 DTM season fifth in the drivers’ championship. For the first time in DTM history, Dennis Olsen scored pole position for Porsche.

INDY TOP-10 HIGHLIGHTED BY SUCCESSFUL “TRIPLE CROWN” DEFENCE FOR K-PAX RACING

K-PAX Racing endured a challenging Indianapolis 8 Hour Saturday to conclude its 2022 season. But even through adversity, the team still managed to finalize its second-consecutive full sweep of the Fanatec GT World Challenge America Powered by AWS Championship. In its third event appearance, which is shared with the Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli sister series, the team battled to a Top-10 class finish.

DTM VICTORY FOR LUCAS AUER AT HOCKENHEIM

DTM is facing a heart-stopping finale on Sunday: with his victory in the Saturday race, Austrian Lucas Auer has reduced the gap to championship leader Sheldon van der Linde to only two points. With the WINWARD Mercedes-AMG, Auer claimed pole position and went on to score his second race win of the season. South African Sheldon van der Linde saw his chances in danger of being reduced after he was dropped from sixth to 16th place in qualifying following a rule infringement by his team Schubert Motorsport. However, in an action-packed race, the 23-year-old BMW works driver charged all the way up to second place. Third place on the podium in DTM Hockenheimring powered by AUDI went to two-time DTM champion Marco Wittmann (GER) with the Walkenhorst BMW.

SHELDON VAN DER LINDE AND MARCO WITTMANN TO START AT DAYTONA AND SEBRING IN THE BMW M HYBRID V8

During a media forum ahead of this weekend’s finale of the DTM season in Hockenheim (GER), BMW M Motorsport unveiled initial details of the future race programme for BMW M works drivers Sheldon van der Linde (RSA) and Marco Wittmann (GER). Both drivers will be involved when the BMW M Hybrid V8 makes its debut in the GTP class of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at the 24 Hours of Daytona (USA) in January and will also compete at the 12 Hours of Sebring (USA) in March 2023. This means that all three of the BMW M works drivers currently racing in the DTM will be incorporated in the new LMDh programme. Philipp Eng (AUT) had previously been announced as one of the four regular drivers who will contest the full IMSA season.
