FERRARI RETURN TO THE FIA WEC ELITE CLASS WITH THE 499P

499P is the name of the new Le Mans Hypercar with which Ferrari will tackle the FIA WEC World Endurance Championship in the elite class from 2023, a name evoking the history of the Prancing Horse manufacturer. In the past, prototypes were identified by the letter ‘P’, frequently preceded by the number of the engine’s unitary displacement. The 499P is no exception. The car is an outcome of a vision proudly rooted in the past, that gave rise to the legend of today, enabling the company to achieve 22 world titles and 9 overall wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Nevertheless, it has its sights set firmly on the future, both in terms of the technical and design content that the prototype features. The livery, with which the 499P will debut at the forthcoming 1000 Miles of Sebring, includes a revived version of the renowned 312 P colour scheme from the 1970s, which also visually underscores the historical connections interrupted 50 years ago, but that have remained ever present in the brand’s essence. For this reason, one of the Maranello-entered endurance cars will be adorned with the number 50, while the other will bear the number 51, one of the most successful ever. The official line-up of who will race the 499P will be the subject of future communications.

SCHILLER AND GOUNON END THE ADAC GT MASTERS SEASON WITH WIN NUMBER FOUR

Win number four in the final race of the season. Fabian Schiller (25/Troisdorf) and Jules Gounon (27/F) won Sunday’s final race of this year’s ADAC GT Masters at the Hockenheimring in Baden-Württemberg. After 36 laps of racing, Fabian Schiller crossed the finish line first in the #4 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo to claim their fourth win of the season. “This success is a nice way to end the season. We have shown again that we have a car capable of winning, and that we can challenge for the title. Unfortunately, mistakes have cost us. However, with four triumphs we end the season with more victories to our name than any other duo,” said Fabian Schiller, who finished third in the championship together with his team-mate at Drago Racing Team ZVO, Jules Gounon. 1.892 seconds behind them, the pairing of Ricardo Feller (22/CH) and Jusuf Owega (20/Cologne) finished runner-up in the #29 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II of Montaplast by Land-Motorsport. Feller set the fastest lap time of 1:39.604 minutes on his way to second place. Maximilian Paul (22/Dresden) and Marco Mapelli (35/I) repeated Saturday’s result, finishing third in the #71 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo for Paul Motorsport. The only title still up for grabs going into this season’s final race, the Team competition, was won by Emil Frey Racing.

LARRY TEN VOORDE WRAPS UP THE PORSCHE CARRERA CUP DEUTSCHLAND SEASON WITH A DOUBLE VICTORY IN HOCKENHEIM

Larry ten Voorde (Team GP Elite) has concluded the 2022 Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland season with a double victory. After winning on Saturday, the Dutchman repeated the feat at round 16 on the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg. “What a great way to end the season! The Porsche Carrera Cup is very close, so to be honest I didn’t expect two such clear wins. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to claim this year’s title but I’m still proud of our performance,” said ten Voorde. Second place went to Bastian Buus (Denmark/Allied-Racing) ahead of Dylan Pereira (Luxembourg/IronForce Racing by Phoenix). At the final round, the titles in the ProAm and Rookie classes were also decided: Carlos Rivas (Luxembourg/Black Falcon) takes home the 2022 ProAm championship title, with Lorcan Hanafin (United Kingdom/Fach Auto Tech) crowned the new rookie champion. A total of 32 drivers tackled the final round of the season run as part of the ADAC GT Master support programme.

A dream end to a virtually perfect season for Raffaele Marciello: with the ADAC GT Masters title in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Mann-Filter Team Landgraf, the Swiss driver brought to a fitting end a year, the likes of which do not come along very often. After victory at the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps and the title in the GT World Challenge Europe, the Zurich-born Mercedes-AMG works driver won the title in the German GT Championship to add one of the most prestigious sprint series in Europe to his success on the endurance scene.

SEYFFARTH MOTORSPORT MAKES A GUEST START AT THE ADAC GT MASTERS FINALE

One of the very first teams to line up on the ADAC GT Masters grid, Seyffarth Motorsport is set to return to the prestigious series with Audi at the final weekend of the season. When the search for the 2022 German GT Champion concludes from 21st to 23rd October at the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg, the team from Querfurt in Saxony-Anhalt will return to its roots with a guest appearance. The outing will give the team an indication of where they stand compared to the opposition, as Seyffarth Motorsport is looking to return to the ADAC GT Masters permanently next season. The Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II will be driven at the season finale by Robin Rogalski (22/PL) and Audi Sport customer racing driver Frédéric Vervisch (36/B).

FOSTER AND CAVERS TRIUMPH AT EXCITING PORSCHE SPRINT CHALLENGE GB SEASON FINALE

Porsche Visit Cayman Islands Sprint Challenge GB arrived at Donington Park with the championship battles in both categories still to be decided. Four drivers entered the weekend with a chance of claiming overall glory, but it was Harry Foster (Team Parker Racing) who emerged ahead, securing the 2022 Pro category title at the penultimate race of the season. Meanwhile, Carl Cavers (Valluga) enjoyed a perfect weekend to take the Am category title in style.

THREE TITLES UP FOR GRABS IN THE ADAC GT MASTERS FINALE

Decision time at the Hockenheimring. The iconic racetrack in the German state of Baden-Württemberg is the venue for the final round of the 2022 German GT Championship. The favourite to clinch the title is championship leader Raffaele Marciello (27/CH). The Mercedes-AMG works driver comes into the final two races of the season with a 42-point lead and, with support from team-mate Daniel Juncadella (31/E), holds all the aces. However, even a comfortable lead like this is no guarantee in the fastest GT3 series in Germany. This is something that Marciello’s closest rivals Christian Engelhart (35/Starnberg) and Ayhancan Güven (24/TR) from Team Joos Sportwagentechnik are also aware of in the Porsche 911 GT3 R. They will be on the attack and looking to put the leader under pressure from minute one.
