THE UK’s FASTESTS SINGLE MARQUE GT RACING CHAMPIONSHIP ENTERS ITS 17th SEASON

The fastest single marque GT racing championship in the UK, Porsche Carrera Cup GB, enters its 17th season with an exciting split of returning drivers and promising new talent. The grid of 485 hp second-generation 911 ‘Type 991’ GT3 Cup cars get their season underway at Brands Hatch on 6 / 7 April, kick-starting a 16 round calendar taking place across eight weekends. The championship’s blue riband event will support the World Endurance Championship (WEC) at Silverstone this summer – underlining the championship’s position as part of the global Porsche Motorsport programme.

THREE QUESTIONS FOR – CHRISTINA NIELSEN

The 27-year-old Dane is one of the stars of North American motorsport. In 2016 and 2017, she won the GTD class of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. This year, she is competing for the first time in a Mercedes-AMG GT3. After her debut in the 12h Bathurst, Christina will compete next weekend for STRAKKA Racing together with Dominik Baumann (AUT) and Adam Christodoulou (GBR) at the California 8 Hours of Laguna Seca, the second round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC).

BMW TEAM SCHNITZER AND WALKENHORST MOTORSPORT TO COMPETE WITH THE BMW M6 GT3 AT LAGUNA SECA

Around seven weeks after the 12 Hours of Bathurst (AUS), BMW teams are set to take on the second race of the season in the Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC). The ‘8 Hours of California’ will be held at another legendary track this Saturday, the “WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca” (USA). BMW Team Schnitzer and Walkenhorst Motorsport will once again race with one BMW M6 GT3 each. The same six drivers that were behind the wheel in Bathurst will take it in turns in the cockpits.

12H MUGELLO KICKS OFF 24H SERIES EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP

For many motorsport enthusiasts, the wait since the Hankook 24H DUBAI in early January has been quite long, but finally, the start of the 24H SERIES European Championship season beckons. This week’s Hankook 12H MUGELLO (29-30 March) sees the 24H TCE SERIES and the 24H GT SERIES, both powered by Hankook, returning to the beautiful circuit in the rolling hills of Tuscany after a one-year absence. An impressive field of almost 60 cars is expected for the race once around the clock. The A6 class is spearheading the GT field with 19 cars entered, the TCR class is at the top of the TCE field with no less than 13 cars.

PORSCHE PURSUES FIRST OVERALL WIN AT LAGUNA SECA WITH THE NEW 911 GT3 R

After a perfect opening round to the Intercontinental GT Challenge season, Porsche aims to extend its championship lead at round two of the year in Laguna Seca (USA). At the twelve-hour race in Bathurst (Australia) on the spectacular Mount Panorama racetrack, works driver Dirk Werner (Germany) as well as Porsche Young Professionals Matt Campbell (Australia) and Dennis Olsen (Norway) clinched victory. Notching up the first win for Porsche at Bathurst, the trio not only gave a perfect maiden performance on the world stage with the customer team of works driver Earl Bamber (EBM), but also a fitting farewell to the 2018-spec Porsche 911 GT3 R. After celebrating its race debut at Daytona (USA) in January, the new version of the over 500 hp GT3 vehicle will be fielded at the eight-hour race in Laguna Seca. The U.S. Porsche customer squads Park Place Motorsports and Wright Motorsports each run a Porsche 911 GT3 R in the race on 30 March.

AUDI SPORT SHOOTS FOR HAT-TRICK IN CALIFORNIA

Audi Sport customer racing holds a record in the Intercontinental GT Challenge, the world’s most prestigious GT3 racing series. The Audi R8 LMS has been unbeaten to date in the California 8 Hours in the United States. Following two straight victories, Audi is now aiming to continue its string of success at Laguna Seca on March 30 when the new evolution of the Audi R8 LMS will compete in this racing series for the first time.

VARIED AND STRONG LINE-UP FOR THE 2019 ADAC GT MASTERS

The ADAC GT Masters is set to delight fans again in the 2019 season with brand diversity and an impressive field of more than 30 supercars. Ahead of the season opener at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben (26th – 28th April), 19 teams have registered a total of 31 supercars. Eight different brands will be represented on the grid, guaranteeing a varied and spectacular field. Audi, BMW, Corvette, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes-AMG, Porsche and returnees Aston Martin are on the roll call for the new season.
