BMW TEAM RLL READY TO GET BACK ON WINNING TRACK AT WATKINS GLEN

The 2019 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season resumes following the traditional Le Mans break with BMW Team RLL ready to compete in this weekend’s Sahlen’s Six Hours Of The Glen, at Watkins Glen International. The 2019 Rolex 24 At Daytona winners have been unable to reach the GTLM class podium in subsequent rounds at Sebring, Long Beach and Mid-Ohio, but feel confident of a stronger performance at The Glen following a Balance of Performance change that will see a nominal power increase for the BMW M8 GTE.

DOUBLE FERRARI CHALLENGE UK WIN FOR JASON BAKER AT SNETTERTON

Snetterton was the venue for the second round of the new Ferrari Challenge UK 2019 series, in which 20 Ferrari clients competed in Race 3 and Race 4 of the 8 race championship. Jason Baker (Dick Lovett Swindon) had another stellar weekend in the Trofeo Pirelli category, taking two Pole Positions and two Race Wins on Saturday and Sunday, ahead of Jamie Clarke (Stratstone Manchester) who once again pushed Jason right to the chequered flag in a repeat of the season opener at Brands Hatch. This means Jason Baker extends his lead in the Championship, with four wins from four races.

PORSCHE SECURES SECOND AND PRO-AM CLASS WIN AT THE NURBURGRING 24-HOUR MARATHON

Porsche narrowly missed out on claiming its 13th overall victory after an almost flawless performance. The latest generation of the Porsche 911 GT3 R with the starting number 911 fielded by Manthey-Racing had held the lead for 105 of the 157 laps and ultimately had to settle for second place. Three hours before the end of the race, the nine-eleven lost the top spot after receiving a time penalty and was unable to make up lost ground despite setting the fastest pace in the field.

BACK-TO-BACK BLANCPAIN GT WORLD CHALLENGE ASIA PODIUMS FOR AUDI R8 LMS GT4

Anderson Tanoto and Mark Williamson rounded off an eye-catching Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia debut for the Audi R8 LMS GT4 by claiming their second podium of the weekend in round six of the championship. Tanoto put in a strong stint at the famously unforgiving Suzuka Circuit in Japan to be running third in class, with Absolute Racing teammate Williamson advancing one place further to finish second in the GT4 class amongst a strong line-up of series regulars..

PORSCHE SETTLES INTO THE NURBURGRING 24 HOURS LEADING GROUP AFTER GOOD START

The Porsche customer teams have started successfully into the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. The nine-eleven (#911) fielded by Manthey-Racing with Kévin Estre (France), Michael Christensen (Denmark), Earl Bamber (New Zealand) and Laurens Vanthoor (Belgium) had taken up the race from position three and have now settled in amongst the leading pack. The No. 31 Porsche 911 GT3 R campaigned by Frikadelli Racing initially dropped out of the top ten. However, the crew consisting of Matt Campbell (Australia), Mathieu Jaminet (France), Romain Dumas (France) and Sven Müller (Germany) put in fast lap times to rejoin the top group. Bad luck plagued last year’s winners Patrick Pilet, Frédéric Makowiecki (both France), Richard Lietz (Austria) and Nick Tandy (Great Britain). While leading, their 500+hp Manthey-Racing nine-eleven with the starting number 1 lost 4:30 minutes due to a puncture. They are now battling their way back up through the field.

PORSCHE TACKLES THE NURBURGRING 24 HOURS FROM THIRD ON THE GRID

The best Porsche customer team takes up the 24-hour classic on the Nürburgring from position three on the grid. At the Top Qualifying session, Laurens Vanthoor (Belgium) lapped the 25.378 kilometre racetrack in the No. 911 Porsche 911 GT3 R fielded by Manthey-Racing in 8:11.567 minutes. With this, he and his teammates Earl Bamber (New Zealand), Michael Christensen (Denmark) and Kévin Estre (France) have secured a very good starting baseline to tackle the race.
