THE NEW PORSCHE 911 RSR FACES THE COMPETITION FOR THE FIRST TIME AT OFFICIAL WEC TESTS

The new Porsche 911 RSR (2019 model year) will meet rival vehicles in the GTE-Pro class for the first time at the prologue of the FIA World Endurance Championship on 23 and 24 July in Barcelona, Spain. At the official tests prior to the start of the 2019/2020 FIA WEC season, Porsche, as the reigning world manufacturers’ champions, will run two of the new ca. 515 hp racing vehicles from Weissach. The new Porsche 911 RSR was unveiled at the beginning of July at Goodwood in Great Britain. In the GTE-Am category, the customer squads Project 1, Gulf Racing and Dempsey Proton Racing will field a total of five 2018-spec Porsche 911 RSR racers.

PORSCHE GT TEAM TARGETS OVERALL VICTORY AT LIME ROCK

Porsche tackles round seven of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in Lime Rock (USA) holding a 24-point lead in the manufacturers’ classification. After scoring five straight wins, the Porsche GT Team now wants to build on this record. With the two prototype classes absent from the Lime Rock event on 19/20 July, the main focal point will be on the two ca. 510 hp Porsche 911 RSR fielded by the works team. In the GTD category, the customer squads Park Place Motorsports, Wright Motorsports and Pfaff Motorsports aim to claim a podium spot each with their Porsche 911 GT3 R racing cars.

THREE YOUNG LAMBORGHINI SUPER TROFEO CHAMPIONS AT THE 24 HOURS OF SPA

The 71st edition of the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, the grand classic of endurance racing and pinnacle of the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup championship, will take place on 27 and 28 July. To strengthen the crews of its customer teams in the Silver Cup class, Lamborghini Squadra Corse is adding a trio of young champions to the lineup: Giacomo Altoè, Andrea Amici and Corey Lewis.

LAMBORGHINI TASTE GT OPEN VICTORY AND SCORE THREE BLANCPAIN GT PODIUMS IN SUCCESSFUL WEEKEND

Emil Frey Racing duo Albert Costa and Giacomo Altoè reclaimed the joint lead of the International GT Open championship with their second victory of the season in the first race at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. Meanwhile, in the sixth round of the Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe season at Zandvoort, Lamborghini took three podiums in the two races in the Netherlands, with FFF Racing’s Andrea Caldarelli and Marco Mapelli remaining firmly in title contention Saturday in Austria’s Styrian Mountains was a dominant day for the Costa/Altoè partnership, who fought to victory from fifth on the grid to win.

TWO PODIUM FINISHES FOR GRT GRASSER RACING TEAM AT ZANDVOORT

For GRT Grasser Racing, the Zandvoort weekend was the third of the Blancpain GT World Challenge Europe season after Brands Hatch and Misano. The team arrived at the circuit set amid the North Sea dunes with two Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVOs – the number 63 to race in the Pro class and the number 19 in the Silver Cup. The weekend turned out to be a successful one for GRT Grasser Racing, with two podium finishes, an outcome that puts the team in an upbeat mood as they now prepare for the standout fixture on the race calendar in just two weeks’ time (25th – 28th July), namely the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.
