ROUND EIGHT VICTORY FOR BHURIT BHIROMBHAKDI THROWS AUDI SPORT R8 LMS CUP TITLE RACE WIDE OPEN

Under azure blue skies, the Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup was unleashed upon the iconic 5.807km Suzuka Circuit for round eight and the 88th race in its eighth season. Despite the abundance of the auspicious number eight, it was dazzling talent rather than luck which saw Singha Plan-B by Absolute Racing’s Bhurit Bhirombhakdi soar to victory and race right back into the GT3 title fight.

BEST PORSCHE 911 GT3 R STARTS FROM ELEVENTH GRID SPOT IN SUZUKA 10 HOURS

The Porsche team Absolute Racing will take up round four of the Intercontinental GT Challenge from eleventh on the grid. In the pole shootout on the Formula 1 circuit at Suzuka (Japan), works driver Dirk Werner (Germany) turned the fastest Porsche lap so far this weekend in a time of 2:01.306 minutes. The German shares the No. 912 Porsche 911 GT3 R with Porsche Young Professionals Matt Campbell (Australia) and Dennis Olsen (Norway). The trio won the season-opening round at Bathurst (Australia) and currently rank third in the drivers’ classification. The identical, 500+hp vehicle fielded by Earl Bamber Motorsport (EBM) with the starting number 911 qualified on 24th.

ANDREW HARYANTO IGNITES AUDI SPORT R8 LMS CUP CHAMPIONSHIP DEFENCE WITH ROUND SEVEN SUZUKA VICTORY

The elements conspired to ramp up the already- formidable challenge of the storied Suzuka Circuit as the Audi Sport R8 LMS Cup took to the 5.807km Japanese track for round seven of the 2019 season. It was reigning champion Andrew Haryanto who emerged victorious, a pole-to-flag run in wet conditions marking his first win of the season. The result catapulted the Cup’s reigning champion into third place overall and right back in title contention with three races to go this season.

SHOWDOWN IN 24H SERIES EUROPE WITH THE 24H BARCELONA

Next week (30 August-1 September), the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya will be the venue for the 21st running of the Hankook 24H BARCELONA – Trofeu Fermí Velez. The race will be the fifth and final round of the 24H SERIES Europe and will therefore bring the decision in the battle for the various titles. Moreover, the event at the famous Spanish Grand Prix circuit counts towards the 24H SERIES Continents. Excitement is guaranteed with a packed field of 31 cars for the GT SERIES and 18 cars for the TCE SERIES. Each division will have a separate starting group and its own prize-giving ceremony.

PORSCHE CARRERA CUP GB SUPPORTS WEC FOR BLUE RIBAND WEEKEND

Porsche Carrera Cup GB, the fastest single marque GT racing championship in the UK, steps onto the international stage once again, this time at Silverstone. Rounds eleven and twelve will support of the opening race of the 2019 / 2020 World Endurance Championship (WEC) season – the 4 Hours of Silverstone – which also sees the racing debut of the 2019 911 RSR. Competing in front of an international audience of teams, drivers and spectators, Porsche Carrera Cup GB’s grid of mechanically identical 485 hp ‘Type 991’ Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars will race on the full 3.7-mile Grand Prix circuit for the first time since 2016, when the championship last supported WEC.

PORSCHE KEEN TO EXTEND IMSA LEAD AT VIRGINIA INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY

The Virginia International Raceway hosts round nine of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship this coming weekend (23-25 August). The Porsche GT Team travels to the storied racetrack as the leader of the manufacturer and driver classifications. With five victories as well as podium finishes at every IMSA race so far this season, the works driver crews, Earl Bamber (New Zealand) and Laurens Vanthoor (Belgium) in the No. 912 car, as well as Patrick Pilet (France) and Nick Tandy (Great Britain) in the No. 911 vehicle, currently rank first and second respectively in the GTLM class. Porsche leads the manufacturers’ classification with a 21-point advantage.
