PORSCHE SCORES ONE-TWO VICTORY AT SEBRING, WRIGHT MOTORSPORTS TAKES CLASS WIN

The Porsche GT Team has achieved maximum success at its final outing in the GTLM class of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. In the highly dramatic twelve-hour race in Sebring, Britain’s Nick Tandy, Frédéric Makowiecki from France and Earl Bamber scored a victory with the No. 911 Porsche 911 RSR. The New Zealander celebrated twice after also clinching second place in the No. 912 car, which he shared with his teammates Laurens Vanthoor from Belgium and Neel Jani from Switzerland. After contesting a total of 75 races since 2014, the North American Porsche works team has achieved 21 wins and 56 podium results. In the GTD class, the customer team Wright Motorsports took first place with the Porsche 911 GT3 R.

STONEMAN MAKES LAMBORGHINI SUPER TROFEO EUROPE TITLE MOVE WITH PAUL RICARD RACE 1 WIN

Bonaldi Motorsport’s Dean Stoneman claimed his third overall win of the 2020 Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe season after a commanding performance in the opening race of the weekend at Paul Ricard. Stoneman briefly lost out to title rival Kevin Gilardoni (Oregon Team) after the pit-stops but wrestled the lead back with 20 minutes remaining to secure the victory.

ONE-TWO FOR PORSCHE AT THE WEC SEASON FINALE

The Porsche GT Team has wrapped up the 2019/2020 season of the FIA World Endurance Championship WEC with positions one and two in the GTE-Pro category. Frenchman Kévin Estre and Michael Christensen from Denmark took up the eight-hour race on the Bahrain International Circuit from pole position and crossed the finish line in first place. Their teammates Richard Lietz (Austria) and Gianmaria Bruni (Italy) fought their way from fourth at the start to finish in second place. For the sports car manufacturer, this is the third victory out of eight WEC races with the newly developed ca. 515 hp 911 RSR. Fourteen months ago, Porsche won the season-opening round at Silverstone in Great Britain – on that occasion, Lietz/Bruni took the flag ahead of Estre/Christensen. In August, the French-Danish duo reciprocated with a victory at the Spa-Francorchamps six-hour race.

POLE POSITION FOR WRIGHT MOTORSPORTS AT THE 12 HOURS OF SEBRING

The Porsche customer team Wright Motorsports has secured pole position in the GTD class for the twelve-hour race at Sebring. The squad from the US state of Ohio has laid excellent foundations in the open fight for the championship title. Heading to the finale of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the gap to the top in the overall classification is just seven points. In the faster GTLM category, the two ca. 515 hp Porsche 911 RSR fielded by the factory team start from positions five and six.

PORSCHE STARTS WEC FINALE IN BAHRAIN FROM POLE POSITION

The Porsche GT Team has secured a very strong starting position in the qualifying for the final round of the FIA World Endurance Championship WEC in Bahrain: The two ca. 515 hp Porsche 911 RSR take up the eight-hour race on Saturday from pole position and the second grid row of the GTE Pro category. Denmark’s Michael Christensen and Kévin Estre from France claimed the first grid spot in their class with an average time of 1:56.505 minutes. This result was determined by the fastest lap of both drivers. Setting a time of 1:57.124 minutes, their teammates Richard Lietz (Austria) and Gianmaria Bruni (Italy) concluded the final 20-minute session on fourth place.

BMW TEAM RLL QUALIFIES SECOND AND THIRD FOR THE 12 HOURS OF SEBRING

BMW Team RLL qualified a strong second and third for tomorrow’s Twelve Hours of Sebring, the final race of the 2020 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season. With a lap of 1:56116-minutes around the 3.74-mile, 17-turn Sebring International Raceway, Connor De Phillippi qualified the No. 25 MOTUL BMW M8 GTE on the outside of the GTLM class front row. De Phillippi will co-drive with Bruno Spengler and Colton Herta. Jesse Krohn qualified the No. 24 MOTUL BMW M8 GTE in the third starting position with a lap time of 1:56.316-minutes. He will co-drive with John Edwards and Augusto Farfus. The BMWs qualified within .660 and .860 seconds respectively of the polesitting Corvette C8.R.
