THE SEVEN-KILOMETRE ARDENNES ROLLERCOASTER – CHALLENGING FOR SETUP, RADIO AND TELEMETRY

The Porsche works team sends two 911 RSR to tackle the opening round of the FIA World Endurance Championship WEC at Spa-Francorchamps on 1 May. The successful team of the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer faces unique conditions in Belgium’s Ardennes region. No other racetrack apart from Le Mans is as long (7.004 kilometres), as undulating (with an elevation change of 100 metres), and as diverse in its challenging mix of high-speed passages and spectacular corners with extreme lateral acceleration.

BMW JUNIOR TEAM PREPARES FOR THE NURBURGRING 24 HOURS

The BMW Junior Team has kicked off its 2021 season on the Nordschleife when Dan Harper (GBR), Max Hesse (GER) and Neil Verhagen (USA) contested their first race in the BMW M6 GT3 within the Nürburgring Endurance Series (NLS). The highlight of the season is the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring (GER) at the start of June, for which the BMW Junior Team is already preparing meticulously. BMW works driver Augusto Farfus (BRA) is supporting the young trio with his wealth of experience. This season, BMW Team RMG is responsible for the team’s outings.

PORSCHE TAKES UP THE HUNT FOR THE 2021 FIA WEC TITLE AT BELGIUM’S ENDURANCE CLASSIC

The Porsche works team tackles the opening round of the FIA World Endurance Championship at Spa-Francorchamps on 1 May with two 911 RSR. For the six-hour race in the Ardennes region of Belgium, the factory drivers Gianmaria Bruni from Italy and Richard Lietz from Austria share the cockpit of the ca. 515-hp GT racing vehicle with the starting number 91. The crew in the identical No. 92 sister car has changed from previous years: this season, Frenchman Kévin Estre, the 2018/2019 WEC champion, shares the vehicle with Neel Jani. In preparation for his WEC mission with the Porsche 911 RSR, the experienced Swiss racer contested the final round of the 2020 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in Sebring and took part in extensive tests.

PR1/MATHIASEN MOTORSPORTS SET TO BEGIN EUROPEAN JOURNEY TO LE MANS IN COLLABORATION WITH TECH1 RACING

PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports will begin their European adventure in the 2021 FIA World Endurance Championship, in collaboration with Tech1 Racing. PR1 Motorsports will take part in three events of the WEC Calendar, starting with The Prologue next week, followed by Total 6 Hours of SPA-Francorchamps, and culminating with the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans in August. The lineup for the #24 PR1 Motorsports / Tech1Racing LMP2, is composed of Patrick Kelly, Simon Trummer and Gabriel Aubry. 

2021 ADAC GT MASTERS FEATURES STRONG FIELD AND TOP CLASS DRIVERS

A strong field, top-class drivers and a wealth of diversity, with seven different manufacturers: the ADAC GT Masters boasts a strong package in its 15th season, in which the title of International German GT Champion is up for grabs for the first time. ADAC Sport President Hermann Tomczyk, ADAC Board Member Lars Soutschka, and ADAC Motorsport Director Thomas Voss presented the 2021 ADAC GT Masters at the official pre-season test, which took place on Tuesday at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, near Magdeburg. A total of 31 super sports cars from 20 teams and seven different manufacturers plan to take to the grid this year. At the wheel of the cars – from Audi, BMW, Corvette, Honda, Lamborghini, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche – will be more than 30 top-class, professional drivers.

FRUSTRATING GT DEBUT FOR JACK AITKEN AT MONZA

British-Korean driver Jack Aitken endured a frustrating start to his GT career at Monza – as he didn’t even get to drive the car in the race. Round one of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS series, the premier championship for GT cars in Europe, marked Jack’s debut in the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo run by Swiss team Emil Frey Racing.

STRONG START FOR THE AUDI R8 LMS GT2

With a victory and a one-two finish, Audi Sport customer racing celebrated a convincing start to the new GT2 European Series. All three customer teams relying on the Audi R8 LMS GT2 recorded podium finishes – two of them even victories. In Europe and Asia, three other Audi Sport customer racing models clinched a total of ten trophies.

MERCEDES-AMG MOTORSPORT SUCCESSFULLY STARTS GT WORLD CHALLENGE EUROPE

The Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Customer Racing Teams got the new season of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS off to a successful start. In the opening race at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Raffaele Marciello (ITA), Daniel Juncadella (ESP) and Jules Gounon (FRA) finished second overall with the #88 Mercedes-AMG Team AKKA ASP entry. In the Silver Cup, the #57 WINWARD Racing car with Philip Ellis (SUI), Mikael Grenier (CAN) and Russell Ward (USA) also achieved a podium finish with third place in class (seventh place overall). With eleven Mercedes-AMG GT3s, the performance and sports car brand from Affalterbach was the manufacturer with the largest contingent in the first-class field of participants.
