Weitzenhof First to Enter 2018 F2000 Championship Series Season

Salem, NH – The first official entry for the seven-weekend 2018 F2000 Championship Series season was filed by Series veteran Dave Weitzenhof. With the Formula Race Promotions season just about two months away from opening at Road Atlanta, April 21-22, the Ohio-based driver is looking forward to building on a strong 2017 season.

Breen: brave and fast was key

Finding a brave and fast rhythm on the first day at Rally Sweden was the key to Craig Breen's podium success, according to the Citroën driver. The Irishman secured the best result of his WRC career to date when he finished 19.8sec behind winner Thierry Neuville on the Värmland region's tricky snow-covered stages. The result also gave Citroën's C3 WRC its fourth podium finish in the series.

AUDI TRADITION STARTS THE 2018 FESTIVAL SEASON

Held in Essen, the world’s biggest show for classic vehicles is expected to welcome around 185,000 visitors in the year in which we celebrate a milestone of Audi history. 50 years ago, the brand made its comeback to the upper executive segment with the release of the Audi 100. At the company’s stand in hall 7, three special Audi 100 models will be exhibited. These will be flanked by two motorsports icons: the Auto Union Type D which won the Italian and British Grand Prix races 80 years ago, and the Audi 200 quattro which won the American TransAm series 30 years ago.

TEST TIME: 16 PORSCHE RACERS TO GET PRE-SEASON SEBRING TEST THIS WEEK

Sixteen (16) Porsches come to Sebring, Florida for IMSA’s open test at Sebring International Raceway on February 20 – 23. Testing on the bumpy 17-turn track has been ongoing for many teams but this is the first official IMSA-sanctioned test for all these classes in preparation for the March 17 Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. The Porsche GT Team has entered both factory 911 RSRs in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GTLM class for the test.

The Fiorano circuit hosted a gala evening on Saturday, with an award ceremony for the drivers and teams that won GT races at the wheel of Ferrari cars. These range from the 488 GTE, dominator of the FIA WEC World Championship and the European Le Mans Series, to the F430 Challenge, still capable of winning in Australia. In 2017 more than 50 drivers and 20 teams on four continents secured national and international titles for the Prancing Horse, as well as many individual race victories.

HAHN AND KHODAIR FASTEST IN GT OPEN’S WINTER TEST IN BARCELONA

Drivex has drawn positive conclusion from International GT Open’s Winter Series at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, which hosted two days devoted to testing. Marcelo Hahn and Allam Khodair managed to outperform rivals with their Drivex-run Mercedes AMG GT3. Their closest rival was more than five tenths of a second behind.

XK70 JAGUAR FESTIVAL AT SHELSLEY WALSH 9-10 JUNE 2018

Hayden Paddon seventh after opening test

Kiwi Hayden Paddon posted the seventh fastest time in the opening stage of Rally Sweden on Friday morning. The Hyundai factory driver was 2.1s slower than stage winner Ott Tanak's Toyota Yaris over the short, 1.9km city test.
