- Ulrich Fritz: “After our long-standing winning streak at the Norisring was unfortunately broken last year – shall we say, a little ingloriously – we intend to lay the foundations for another run of wins at the weekend”
Comments on the DTM races at the Norisring

“The Norisring has always been a mega circuit for Mercedes in the past, but I personally also associate the street circuit with many positive memories. The Norisring is my favourite track on the DTM racing calendar. It’s a street circuit with many long straights, and there are also always plenty of spectators there. I’m sure we’ll be able to give the fans a great show this weekend. The racing will be great at the Norisring as it is every year. The race weekend is an absolute highlight every season. I’m really looking forward to it.”

“I’m looking forward to the Norisring. It’s one of the highlights of the season, and I’ve won there a couple of times already. For most drivers, it’s one of their favourite race weekends of the year, and Mercedes have had some excellent races there. I now want to extend my run of points-scoring finishes and, hopefully, post a couple of really strong results. I’ll try to get onto the podium and move myself a bit further up in the championship as a result.”
Paul Di Resta (31, Scotland):
- Car number: 3
- Team: Mercedes-AMG Motorsport SILBERPFEIL Energy
- Car: Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM
“I always look forward to the Norisring. It will be interesting to see how the new regulations and softer tyres come together at this track. In the past, we’ve always been able to head to Nuremberg feeling very optimistic. After our somewhat surprising success last time out, we can, hopefully, be among the front-runners. We’re at a critical point in the championship, so the rule of the game for me has to be, all-out attack!”
Robert Wickens (28, Canada):

“I’ve had an interesting few days since Budapest. Now we’re off to the Norisring – one of my favourite circuits along with the Hungaroring. I’ve previously achieved some good results in Nuremberg. Hopefully, I can build on that and be back up front again after the weekend in Budapest. You really have to attack the track at the Norisring. You can gain so much time on the brakes. There isn’t really a normal corner on the whole of the circuit. It’s definitely a driver’s circuit, quite unique, and you have to find the right line. Also, you have to be really accurate with your braking points. If you are just one metre out, then that could mean the difference between P1 and a place out of the Top Ten.”
Edoardo Mortara (30, Italy):

“After Budapest, we’re now heading to the Norisring. I’m really looking forward to the Nuremberg race weekend. However, I still don’t know how we can expect to do there. It could go either way, but I hope, of course, that we have a good weekend. Mercedes have always been very competitive at the Norisring in recent years, so I can’t wait to drive a Mercedes there for the first time. Besides, I won the first race at the Norisring in 2016. All the ingredients for a good weekend are there, which is why I’m approaching it so optimistically.”
Maro Engel (31, Germany):

“The race weekend at the Norisring is obviously one of the season’s highlights. I’ve had plenty of good races there in the past, and, among other things, I almost secured a place on the podium in a one year old car. That obviously makes me really look forward to this weekend, for sure! Generally speaking, we want to get back on track after the weekend in Hungary, which was not all that successful for us, and come away with plenty of points.”
Ulrich Fritz, Head of Mercedes-AMG Motorsport DTM:
“After our long-standing winning streak at the Norisring was unfortunately broken last year – shall we say, a little ingloriously – we intend to lay the foundations for another run of wins at the weekend. Of course, we can’t yet be 100% certain that our new car will be in complete harmony with the track, but we know that our drivers are fast across the board at the Norisring. The DTM is incredibly close this year, and every manufacturer has circuits where they traditionally do better and on which they want to score really well. The Norisring definitely fits that bill for us.”
