HARRY KING KICKS OF THE NEW PORSCHE CARRERA CUP DEUTSCHLAND SEASON WITH A VICTORY

Harry King (Allied-Racing) has hit the ground running in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland: The UK racer won the season-opening race on the famous Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) ahead of the two Dutchmen, Larry ten Voorde and Loek Hartog (both GP Elite). This was King’s debut in Porsche’s German one-make cup – which he promptly won. “It feels great to start the season with such a sense of achievement. We used the free practice to set the car up for this track. It makes me all the more pleased that we were rewarded as a team,” said King about his success in the race run as part of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) support programme.

SECOND WIN OF THE PORSCHE CARRERA CUP DEUTSCHLAND SEASON FOR KOHLER

Leon Köhler (Nebulus Racing by Huber) celebrates a perfect end to the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland season: The German scored his second win of the season on Sunday at the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg. “The start was a bit turbulent and I managed to benefit from that. I was determined to win another race. The fact that it happened on home turf was of course fantastic,” said Köhler, who lives in the town of Kleinwallstadt not far from the racetrack. Second place at race 16 of the season went to Saturday’s winner and newly crowned champion Larry ten Voorde (Netherlands/Team GP Elite), followed by Bastian Buus (Denmark/Allied-Racing) in third. At the season finale, the last remaining title decision was made: Loek Hartog (Netherlands/Black Falcon Team Textar) won the rookie class of the 2021 season. A total of 29 drivers tackled the event run as support to the ADAC GT Masters in their 510 PS Porsche 911 GT3 Cup racers.

Thanks to his fourth win, Ayhancan Güven (Turkey/Phoenix Racing) has kept the fight for the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland crown open. At round 14 at the Sachsenring on Sunday, the Porsche Junior beat Christopher Zöchling (Austria/Fach Auto Tech) and Larry ten Voorde (Netherlands/Team GP Elite) to the flag. Heading to the season finale at Hockenheim (22 to 24 October), Saturday’s winner ten Voorde sits at the top of the leaderboard, 24 points ahead of Güven. Fifty points are still up for grabs. “I knew that I had to win to improve my chances in the race for the title. And I used it. Now I have to repeat this result at the final event,” said Güven. The team classification decision has already been made: With two races remaining before the end of the season, GP Elite has secured overall victory here at the Sachsenring.

Thanks to his seventh victory so far this season, the Dutchman has extended his championship lead over Porsche Junior Ayhancan Güven (Turkey/Phoenix Racing) by 33 points. “In terms of the overall standings, this was a great success. I didn’t manage to get past Ayhancan Güven at the start, but I found a gap shortly afterwards and I grabbed my chance,” said ten Voorde. Güven finished the race run as support to the ADAC GT Masters in second place. Scoring third place, Julian Hanses (Germany/HRT Performance) celebrated his first podium result in the German one-make cup.

PORSCHE CARRERA CUP DEUTSCHLAND WIN FOR LARRY TEN VOORDE AT MONZA

Larry ten Voorde (Team GP Elite) has taken an important step on his mission to defend his Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland title. The Dutchman won race twelve on Sunday at Italy’s Autodromo Nazionale Monza ahead of Porsche Junior Ayhancan Güven (Turkey/Phoenix Racing) and Bastian Buus (Denmark/Allied-Racing). “The wet track surface dried up lap after lap, so the conditions were special. Ayhancan Güven and I had an intense duel, which was great fun. Ultimately, I pipped him at the post,” said ten Voorde. Thanks to his victory as part of the International GT Open support programme, the defending champion managed to extend his lead in Carrera Cup standings and now lies 28 points ahead of Saturday’s winner Güven in the overall rankings.
