LAST FACTORY OUTING WITH THE PORSCHE 911 RSR IN THE FIA WORLD ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP

The two 911 RSR fielded by the Porsche GT Team will bid farewell to the GTE-Pro class of the FIA World Endurance Championship WEC sporting a very special livery. At the final round of the season in Bahrain, the two nine-elevens will be decked out in striking colours from ten years of competition with the ca. 378 kW (515 PS) GT racing car – from the classic Porsche Motorsport design through to the beloved “Pink Pig”. The eight-hour race will be contested on the track in Sakhir on 12 November.

PODIUM FINISH FOR THE PORSCHE GT TEAM IN THE 6 HOURS OF FUJI

The two 911 RSR fielded by the Porsche GT Team have finished the 6 Hours of Fuji (Japan) in positions three and four. Works drivers Michael Christensen from Denmark and Kévin Estre from France achieved a podium result at the wheel of the No. 92 car. In the manufacturer’s classification, Porsche is just one point behind the leader and is still in contention for the title as they head to the final round of this year’s FIA World Endurance Championship WEC in Bahrain on 12 November. No decision has yet been made in the drivers’ world championship.

LAMBORGHINI ANNOUNCES DRIVERS BORTOLOTTI AND CALDARELLI FOR THE LMDh PROGRAM

Lamborghini Squadra Corse has announced the first two drivers in the line-up for the LMDh (Le Mans Daytona h) program, which will debut in 2024 in the FIA World Endurance Championship (Hypercar class) and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (GTP class). The Factory Drivers Andrea Caldarelli and Mirko Bortolotti, both currently involved in the most important GT competitions with Lamborghini, have been confirmed for the new project, not only as drivers but also as test drivers, contributing to the development of the prototype. 

NICKI THIIM TO MAKE DTM DEBUT IN SECOND T3 MOTORSPORT LAMBORGHINI

Following in the footsteps of his successful father: Nicki Thiim, a two-time FIA World Endurance Champion and the son of former DTM champion Kurt Thiim, will be racing in DTM for the first time. The 32-year-old Dane will be competing in the 16 sprint races of the long-standing series with a Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO run by the T3 Motorsport team from Dresden. The 2022 DTM season is getting its season underway at Portimão (POR) from 29 April until 1 May.

PORSCHE WINS THE GTE-PRO CLASS AT THE WEC SEASON OPENER AT SEBRING

The Porsche GT Team has kicked off the new season of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) with a victory at the Sebring International Raceway. Michael Christensen from Denmark and Frenchman Kévin Estre won the GTE-Pro class at the 1,000-mile race in the US state of Florida ahead of the Corvette crewed by Nick Tandy (Great Britain) and American Tommy Milner. Richard Lietz from Austria and Italy’s Gianmaria Bruni finished third with their ca. 378 kW (515 PS) 911 RSR. The eight-hour WEC race had to be halted and ultimately discontinued a good 60 minutes before the end of the race due to a thunderstorm warning. In the GTE-Am class, American Brendan Iribe and the two British racing drivers Ollie Millroy and Ben Barnicoat finished third with the identical 911 fielded by the Project 1 customer team.
