One of the most anticipated weekends of racing has finally arrived, the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Will Owen will be making his first appearance at the star-studded race with his team, United Autosports, who will also be racing in the 24-hours of Daytona for the first time.

The Rolex 24 at Daytona not only marks the opening of the 2018-racing season across the but also falls in a unique window of timing that allows drivers from any and every championship a chance to make history. Top drivers from F1, IndyCar, NASCAR, and Formula E will be amongst the contenders for the checkered flag on January 27th. Although this will be Owen’s first crack at the Rolex 24, he is no stranger to the weight of 24-hour racing after placing 4th at his first outing of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2017. The line-up for United Autosports also adds some experience points with teammates Bruno Senna, Hugo de Sadeleer, and Paul Di Resta.

The 50 entries of IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship competing in the Rolex 24 at Daytona will have a total of three practice sessions on Thursday. Qualifying will fall on the same day from 4:45-5pm EST for Owen and his United Autosports Ligier JS P217 in the Prototype class. There will be a final practice session on Friday morning before race day. Saturday, January 27th 2018, will mark fifty-six years after the first 24-hour race was held in Daytona in 1962. The green flag will wave at 2:40pm EST with a fireworks show to follow as the cars make their way through the night at 11pm. The final laps will be counted and the checkered flag will call the close of the Rolex 24 at Daytona at 2:40pm EST on Sunday.

Driver – Will Owen

“This is shaping up to be a fantastic weekend. We will probably experience a plethora of emotions with some highs and lows and plenty of challenges over the next few days, but hopefully by the end of Sunday we will be able to come out on top.As usual, I’m keeping my expectations completely open. We know we might have some ground to cover compared to the other cars so we are going to work as hard as we can. Everyone on the team will be as focused as possible with all the media and sponsors and attention we will be getting. It will be very important to keep the on track activities clear and focused.”
