Will Owen is ready to kick off a new chapter of his motorsport career this weekend with Juncos Racing in the 2019 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at the Roar Before the Rolex 24 in the #50 Cadillac DPi-V.R machine.
Juncos Racing may be a brand new team in IMSA, but they bring an enormous amount of experience from IndyCar, Indy Lights, and Pro Mazda where Owen competed with the Indianapolis based organization in the 2015 and 2016 seasons. The American finished fourth in the 2016 championship with eight podium finishes.
Owen will lead the squad of drivers as the only one with experience in sportscars and driving at Daytona International Speedway. The twenty-three-year-old finished 3rd at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and 4th at the Rolex 24 at Daytona in 2018 and will be joined by teammates Kyle Kaiser, Rene Binder, and Agustin Canapino for his first season in the DPi category.
“The Roar” as is it is referred to in the racing world will last three-days, starting with a practice session on Friday, January 4 at 11 A.M EST. Juncos Racing will pick up where they left off with pre-season testing at Homestead and Daytona back in December in an effort of making the 2019 Rolex 24 at Daytona their first win of the season. “Finally, after waiting all Christmas break it’s time to get to work. Now the Juncos car is wrapped and it is looking beautiful; I am proud to represent Juncos and Cadillac around Daytona this year. The list of things to learn and practice is nearly endless. By the time the race rolls around we will have sorted out many issues and things that could slow us down in the race. I can’t thank the team enough for their hard work over the last few weeks, sorting out the final details on the car. Track time can be limited at the Roar, but for sure I will enjoy every second of it!”
