The Whelen Engineering Cadillac DPiV.R will start the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship 23rd running of the Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta from the second row.

Cadillac Petit Le Mans Qualifying: 

3. No. 31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac DPi-V.R, Felipe Nasr, 1:08.8394.

No. 10 Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R, Ryan Briscoe, 1:09.1247.

No. 85 JDC-Miller Motorsports Cadillac DPi-V.R, Gabriel Aubry, 1:09.3718.

No. 5 Mustang Sampling Cadillac DPi-V.R, Sebastian Bourdais, 1:09.984

Felipe Nasr had the wheel of the No. 31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac DPi-V.R for the the 15-minute qualifying session this afternoon. He wasted little time getting to speed shooting to the top of the score sheet within his first two laps. As the other DPi competitors came up to speed Nasr’s time of 1:08.839 will have him starting from the inside of the third row for tomorrow’s 10-hour race at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta’s 2.54 mile, 12-turn undulating road course.

“Qualifying went pretty well, ended up third,” Nasr said. “I felt that we pretty much maximized the performance of our 31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac. The lap felt pretty good, I think I left everything out there in regard to nailing that one. We are the fastest Cadillac, so a credit to the Action Express team.

“It is a long 10-hour race. We will go through a lot of different track conditions in terms of when we start to when we end with different air and track temperatures. We were able to get a lot of data yesterday during practice in the day and night running. All three drivers are happy with the car. We are going to do everything we can to get on that top step tomorrow night.”

Ryan Briscoe, No. 10 Konica Minolta Cadillac DPi-V.R, will start next to Nasr on the second row in fourth with a time of 1:09.124. Gabriel Aubry had the controls of white JDC-Miller Motorsports Cadillac and put in a lap of 1:09.371 that will have him coming to the green in seventh. Sebastien Bourdais drove the No. 5 Mustang Sampling Cadillac DPi-V.R to a time of 1:09.984 that will have him starting next to Aubry in eighth.
