Pipo Derani put the No. 31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac DPi-V.R on pole for the Cadillac Grand Prix of Sebring to run this evening.
Under near perfect conditions of sunny skies and 90-degree temperatures, Derani set the time of 1:46.733 early in the session to take the top starting spot for the two hour and 40-minute race that starts at 5:30 p.m. this evening.
“It’s fantastic to be on pole,” Derani said. “This is my first pole here at Sebring. I have been second a couple of times. I am super proud of the Whelen Engineering team. The Whelen Cadillac is on rails. I put that time in with my first flying lap. It helps to start in the front in a short race. We will look to be on the top of the podium, it has been a long time since we stood on the top step.”
