Cooper MacNeil (Hinsdale, Ill.), Gunnar Jeannette (Salt Lake City, Ut.) and Daniel Serra (Brazil) are ready for the season finale IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Motul Petit Le Mans to run October 13.

MacNeil comes into the IMSA Championship final race with a chance to finish third in season ending GTD points (currently fourth with 260). To help with the cause Scuderia Corsa is bringing back sports car ace Daniel Serra to the team. Serra competes in the Brazilian Stock Car Series and has run with Corsa at Petit Le Mans twice in the past. The trio of MacNeil, Jeannette and Serra are poised to put the No. 63 WeatherTech Racing Ferrari on the top step of the podium at Petit.

“We have to go for the win,” MacNeil said. “I can finish the season and have a chance to walk across the banquet stage Sunday night and celebrate a top three points finish. We have had an up and down year, closing it out with a win and getting points for a third-place championship finish would be great. Daniel is a fast driver and we are looking forward to his input and speed.”

“I have run Petit Le Mans twice in the past, both with Scuderia Corsa, once in GTD and once in GTLM, unfortunately we did not finish either time,” Serra said. “Road Atlanta is one of my favorite tracks! I really enjoy driving the circuit. It reminds me more of a Brazilian track with not too much escape area. I’m happy to join Scuderia Corsa, Cooper and Gunnar. I never raced with them, but they’ve had great races this year and I’m looking forward to helping them at Road Atlanta.”

“Going into Petit we’ll be doing our best to finish the year out with a win and move Cooper up to third in the championship,” Jeannette said. “I’ve been on the podium at Petit multiple times and to get there again would be a great achievement with the current GTD field. We’ve got a great addition with Daniel Serra, he’s proved himself multiple times in the Ferrari, most recently with poles at Daytona and Sebring. I love Road Atlanta and am looking forward to paying tribute to Don Panoz this weekend, who’s done so much for sports car racing over the last few decades.”

The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship will travel to Road Atlanta for the season finale Motul Petit Le Mans, October 9-11.
