W&D Racing Team makes its return to the international scenario. After a 2020 season spent in the Italian GT Sprint – when Paolo Meloni was one of the GT4 Am frontrunners to finish third in the standings and claiming one victory, two second and four third positions – the San Marino-based squad is set to re-enter the GT4 European Series.
Like in 2018 and 2019 Max Tresoldi will be once more alongside regular racer Meloni, sharing driving duties in a BMW M4 GT4 car.
Tresoldi – who didn’t race last year – and his team-mate Meloni have big expectation in the Am class. The duo secured the Italian Touring Car Endurance Series 2014 title and dominated their own Group in the following year before moving up to the GT4 European Series in 2018 to take several podium finishes.
The GT4 European Series will consist of six rounds, 12 races in total in the same weekends of the GT World Challenge Europe. The only Italian event at Monza will kick-off the season on 18 April. The series then will head to France, to the circuit Paul Ricard (30 May). After making their only appearance at Zandvoort in 2019, Meloni and Tresoldi will return to the Dutch track on 20 June for round 3. Spa, in Belgium, will follow on 31 July. The next two events are Nürburgring (5 September), and Barcelona on 10 October.
“For us it will be a back to the future”, Meloni commented. “This is our third season in the GT4 European Series and we aim to show well”.
