VICTORY AT THE SACHSENRING PUTS LARRY TEN VOORDE ON COURSE FOR THE PORSCHE CARRERA CUP DEUTSCHLAND TITLE

Larry ten Voorde (Team GP Elite) has won race 13 of the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland. Thanks to his seventh victory so far this season, the Dutchman has extended his championship lead over Porsche Junior Ayhancan Güven (Turkey/Phoenix Racing) by 33 points. “In terms of the overall standings, this was a great success. I didn’t manage to get past Ayhancan Güven at the start, but I found a gap shortly afterwards and I grabbed my chance,” said ten Voorde. Güven finished the race run as support to the ADAC GT Masters in second place. Scoring third place, Julian Hanses (Germany/HRT Performance) celebrated his first podium result in the German one-make cup.

The race on the tradition-steeped track in Saxony was marked by a turbulent early phase. At the start, polesitter Güven initially defended his front spot at the wheel of his 510 hp Porsche 911 GT3 Cup but had to relinquish it to the current Carrera Cup champion shortly afterwards. When several vehicles slid into the gravel trap in the first corners, the safety car was deployed while the cars were salvaged. The fully electric Porsche Taycan Turbo S spearheaded the field for over five laps. At the restart, ten Voorde demonstrated his expertise on his 25th birthday and ultimately crossed the finish line in first place 1.8 seconds ahead of Güven. “Overtaking on this narrow circuit is a big challenge. Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to put Larry ten Voorde under any significant pressure. I take up Sunday’s race from pole position again and I’m determined to win,” stated Güven.

Third place went to Hanses. In his second Carrera Cup season, the 24-year-old climbed the podium for the first time. “Since my first race, my goal has been to secure a top-three result. The key to this was that I got a super start and managed to move straight into third place,” explained Hanses. A gripping duel for fourth place unfolded between Christopher Zöchling (Austria/Fach Auto Tech) and Leon Köhler (Germany/Nebulus Racing by Huber). At the flag, the experienced Austrian came out on top. Köhler claimed fifth place followed by the Talent Pool driver Morris Schuring (Netherlands/Team GP Elite) as the best rookie. Jukka Honkavuori (Finland/MRS GT-Racing) achieved seventh place, with Bastian Buus (Denmark/Allied-Racing) rounding off the top eight.

Spectators were treated to some gripping action in the ProAm class: Over large stretches, the YouTube star Jan-Erik Slooten (Germany) led the ProAm field. In the final minutes, however, Kim Hauschild (Germany/HRT Motorsport) squeezed past the Phoenix Racing driver. Third place went to the current ProAm points’ leader Carlos Rivas (Black Falcon Team Textar) from Luxembourg.
