United Autosports are preparing for round four of the 2022 World Endurance Championship at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza.

The #22 car of Philip Hanson, Filipe Albuquerque and William Owen will line up with the #23 car of Oliver Jarvis, Alex Lynn and Joshua Pierson at the historic Italian track, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.

Three weeks ago, the #23 crew (Jarvis, Lynn and Pierson) came home in sixth place at the gruelling 24 Hours of Le Mans race, retaining second place in the championship. At Monza, however, sights are set on the top podium spot with the team looking to close the points gap and repeat their win at the WEC Prologue at Sebring.

Last year was United’s debut at WEC Monza, making a big impression with victory for the #22 car in the LMP2 Class and third place on the overall podium.

The 2022 edition of the Monza six-hour race will begin at 12 noon on Sunday 10th July.

Filipe Albuquerque
“Monza in Italy always brings me good memories. It was the place where Phil and I, along with United, won the 2020 European Le Mans Series championship. We tested there earlier this year and seemed really competitive so we’re looking forward to it. Our aim is to make a change with the amount of bad luck and results we’ve had so far, because we’ve had the pace and been able to fight for the wins. We’ve started from the front row at Le Mans and the second row at Spa, so it shows we can be up there at the top end of the competition. Let’s hope for a clean Monza race with a good result.”

Phil Hanson
“After Le Mans, our fight for the championship title is over. We’re here to give it absolutely everything, we have no interest in trying to finish a race unless it’s fighting for the race win, that’s the only satisfaction we can get after what has been a very tough season so far. We’re going to go all guns blazing for the rest of this WEC season and we’ve had some really good success at Monza in the past, winning last year from the front row.”

Will Owen
“Monza is one of my favorite tracks, so I’m super excited to be there. All of us have the same feeling after Le Mans, which is that we have nothing to lose. It’s time to push like crazy to make something great out of these last three races. We are aiming for race wins and will stop at nothing to get there.”

Alex Lynn:
“Really excited to get racing again after Le Mans. It’s such a big event for everyone, within the championship alone as well. Monza is a really nice circuit to kickstart the second half of the season. It’s a really cool circuit, super high speed, amazing history and a circuit that has proved successful for the team in the past. Olly and Josh are both on really fine form at the moment, we’ve all been racing since Le Mans so we all feel very prepared and ready to get the #23 car back in the championship lead of the WEC.”

Olly Jarvis:
“After a tough Le Mans it is great to be getting back in the car again and especially at such an iconic track like Monza. It’s a track United went very well at last year so I’m confident that we will have a good car and hopefully with a bit more luck than the previous two events, we can challenge for the top step of the podium. We are still in the championship fight and with three races to go there are plenty of points on offer to close the gap.”

Josh Pierson:
“I’m super excited to get on track in Monza, a track that is instantly recognizable to me, but one I’ve never driven. With Olly and Alex, I’ll have experienced drivers to show me the ropes, and I’m excited to see if we can get another good result.”

Richard Dean
“We won here in the WEC at the circuit’s debut last year so we are all very positive heading back to Monza with our current driver line ups. It’s going to be hot, and the competition will be tough. Bring it on.”
