Toro Verde GT is excited to announce it will be making its debut in the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB, expanding its racing efforts with a two-car line-up for the 2023 season.

Having enjoyed a successful season in Porsche Carrera Cup GB last year, where it claimed nine podium finishes, the team will be returning with entries in both Porsche series on the British Touring Car Championship support package.

The Porsche Sprint Challenge GB features a grid of identical Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport machines, with six rounds each featuring three 20-minute races across two classes: Pro and Am.

Experienced sportscar driver Graeme Mundy and first-time racer Ed Stanton round out the team’s line up in the Am category, where both enter the new season with hopes of podium success.

With a wealth of experience in Porsche machinery, including appearances in the Carrera Cup GB, Porsche Supercup, and a podium finish in the Gulf 12 Hours, Graeme will face a new challenge this season as he aims to hit the ground running.

Ed, who is related to 2022 Carrera Cup Am champion Josh Stanton, will be making his motorsport debut this season, building up his knowledge and experience behind the wheel as he finds his footing in the series.

The opening rounds of the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB season take place at Donington Park this coming weekend (April 22/23).

Graeme Mundy (Am)

“I’ve got a fair bit of Porsche and did my last full season in Porsche Carrera Cup GB in 2017. Since then, I’ve had a go in the Gulf 12 Hours in 2019 and did a bit of testing in the Cayman last year. I really loved the car, so I knew I wanted to race it this year.

“I’d love to be fighting at the front of the Am cars. That remains to be seen, but I think we can challenge for some podiums. These cars are a lot closer to each other than Cup cars are for instance, so it’s going to be a close championship which will be a lot of fun.

“Toro Verde GT are a really friendly team, everyone involved in it is brilliant, and we all just want to have fun and enjoy racing. Once met with everyone I knew it would be the perfect team to go racing with this season.”

Ed Stanton (Am)

“Porsche racing has been on the cards for a few years, but we’ve never been able to make it happen until now. I did a few tests and then managed to get a seat at Toro Verde GT, so it’s a very exciting time.

“It’s going to be a learning curve to step into the championship as a beginner, but I think it will be a good series to start with as the Porsche Cayman lends itself beautifully to a beginner driver. There are a lot of elements in the car to help the driver and make it safe, but there’s still a decent amount of pace in it, so I’m excited to get started and see what we can do.”
