The third round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe, held at Misano, once again showed a great balance, with eight winning crews in the four classes. After the first two races held on Saturday night, the one-make series for the cars of the House of Sant’Agata Bolognese offered another exciting show, starting from the battle for victory among the PRO drivers that saw the duo of Imperiale Racing formed by Karol Basz and Vito Postiglione score their third win, after an exciting final sprint of the car of Antonelli Motorsport shared by Giacomo Altoè and Daniel Zampieri, who finished second and are leading the standings by only three points.
In the PRO-AM, Emanuele Zonzini and Lorenzo Bontempelli took their first victory with the colors of Iron Lynx and gained a few points over Juan Perez and Loris Spinelli, who scored their fourth win in a row in Race 1 and are still at the top of the class standings. Glauco Solieri, who is in his first season in the continental series with Antonelli Motorsport, also scored his first win in the AM category. In the Lamborghini Cup, instead, Gerard Van der Horst returned to the top step of the podium, repeating the result achieved one month ago at Silverstone and confirming his leadership in the championship.
The race of the AM category was uncertain until the end, with four different drivers alternating in the lead. After starting from the pole, Andrej Lewandowski took the lead but was overtaken by Cedric Leimer on the second lap. Due to a contact between the two cars, however, the Swiss driver was forced to make a pit-stop and later also received a drive-thru penalty. Glauco Solieri then took the lead, followed by Lewandowski and Scholze. The Italian of the Antonelli Motorsport team remained ahead of everyone until nine minutes from the end of the race, when Lauck took advantage of a little mistake to move to first position and remained there until the finish line. After the end of the race, the 10-second penalty inflicted on the German pair for unsafe release during the pit-stop pushed Solieri into the lead. Pietro Necchi and Lewandowski (Vs Racing) finished second, while Lauck and Scholze were relegated to third position, while remaining in the lead of the class standings.
In the Lamborghini Cup, Joseph Collado missed the victory because he received a penalty for not respecting the pit-stop time. The Frenchman, who won Race 1 on Saturday, thus missed the opportunity to score two consecutive wins, while the victory went to Gerard Van der Horst. Behind the Dutchman came respectively Supachai Weeraborwornpong (Team Lazarus) and Hans Fabri (Imperiale Racing).
The next round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe will take place on July 27-28 on the Belgian circuit of Spa-Francorchamps, on the same weekend as the 24 Hours.
