Thailand Super Series (TSS), the premier race series in ASEAN, is pleased to announce its 2023 season schedule which builds on last year’s return to the full status championship and now further expands regionally with the return of a round at Sepang International Circuit.

With the addition of the Sepang round, a return to the Singapore Grand Prix for a second invitational race, our jewel in the crown, the Bangsaen Grand Prix, plus two visits to Buriram’s Chang International Circuit, TSS is confident everything is in place to continue to build on both short- and long-term targets.

TSS 2023 Calendar:

Hankook Official Pre-Season Test, Chang International Circuit, 29-30 March
Event 1: Chang International Circuit, 20-23 April
Event 2: Chang International Circuit, 25-28 May*
Event 3: Bangsaen Grand Prix (27 June-2 July)
Event 4: Sepang International Circuit (25-27 August)**
Event 5: Chang International Circuit (14-17 December)

Invitational Event: Singapore Grand Prix (15-17 September)***

*    Excludes Super Car GT3, Super Car GTM & Super Car GTC
**   Excludes Super Pickup, Super Compact & Super Eco
*** Non-Championship

The return of Sepang International Circuit as a championship counting round means TSS will have full championship points scoring rounds in both Thailand and Malaysia.

For the new Sepang round we additionally look forward to welcoming Malaysia based teams and drivers to the series with many expressions of interest having been made already.

The new date at Sepang International Circuit will be reserved for Super Car GT3, GTM and GTC. That means a special additional round has been inserted into the calendar at Chang International Circuit on 26-28 May reserved exclusively for Super Pickup, Super Compact and Super Eco, allowing these popular and well supported categories to top the billing.

Also, as part of that weekend’s programme will be the RAAT Thailand Endurance International Championship. That mix will create an exciting weekend that will showcase the very best of A-, B- and C-segment level car racing in Thailand plus the hugely popular pick-up categories.

The Bangsaen Grand Prix will remain in its traditional early summer slot which has proved popular with teams, drivers and fans alike.

South East Asia’s premier street race returns for its 15th edition and, for the first time since the pandemic, international series will return to the programme. More details will be announced later.

TSS will also support the Singapore Grand Prix in for the second consecutive year.

After the inaugural race last year, which was run as “TSS The Super Series”, we expect an even bigger grid of cars for the return and positioning the dates for Sepang and the Marina Bay Circuit just a fortnight apart means optimised logistics for teams that plan to undertake both rounds.

Due to high demand to join this round from drivers and teams from across Asia, the Singapore race will retain its non-championship status and be invitational.

Visits to Buriram’s Chang International Circuit bookend the championship. Thailand’s FIA Grade 1 racetrack in Buriram is very popular with teams and drivers thanks to its high speed and demanding layout along with world class facilities, making it the perfect venue to kick off and close the season.

We’re also pleased to announce that James Taylor will continue as series Race Director. James is one of most experienced Race Directors in Asia while a further appointment to strengthen the team will come with the arrival of Australian racing legend Craig Baird to fill the role of Head Steward and Driving Standards Observer (DSO).

Infrastructure upgrades this year include a further rolling out of F1-standard digital signalling at the Bangsaen Street Circuit, building on the robust technology platform already have in place.

With a strong, robust and expanded platform in place, TSS is very excited about this year and we look forward to welcoming new drivers and teams.

Preeda Tantemsapya, Vice President, Thailand Super Series. “We’re very pleased to announce our 2023 calendar which builds on the return to a full series last year and to now also welcome Sepang International Circuit back to the calendar is very exciting. It’s one of the world’s greatest racetracks and will be a popular addition with both drivers and teams. We believe with the split rounds in Buriram, returning to Singapore and Bangsaen ready to welcome international series again plus the invitational Singapore Grand Prix support race we have a very well-rounded package in place for the coming year. I would also like to thank everyone who has made this possible, the support and enthusiasm of all the stakeholders in the sport in this region and all the drivers and teams who continue to put their faith in us. We are also looking forward to more teams, cars and drivers joining this year and have some very exciting announcements to come as we build up to the season.”
