Team Redline Racing brought the curtain down on the 2022 Porsche Carrera Cup GB in style at Brands Hatch this past weekend (October 8/9) with a flurry of silverware.

On what proved to be an action-packed finale around the famous Grand Prix circuit, drivers Adam Smalley, Nathan Harrison and Nigel Rice added to the Teesside-based squad’s trophy collection whilst Micah Stanley and Oli White also produced impressive performances.

Fine-tuning their quintet of 911 GT3 Cup – Type 992 cars across Friday’s two practice sessions, spirits were high heading into what proved to be a hotly contested battle for pole position in qualifying.

Porsche GB Junior Smalley would lead the line for the team as a string of late laps saw him rise up to third, just a few tenths of a second shy of top spot. Stanley and Harrison – who was second in the Pro-Am ranks – ensured that three cars would start inside the top ten overall.

Further down the order, White’s strong pace saw him just missing out on joining the aforementioned trio whilst Rice positioned himself for a good final outing in the Am category.

Sunday’s opening encounter proved to be a truncated affair which ultimately ended early under red flag conditions. Following a lengthy safety car period after a lap one incident, Smalley bagged his ninth podium of the year with a fine drive to third.

Fifth place went the way of Stanley for his best result of the season, as Harrison – who clinched yet another Pro-Am podium finish – and White ensured that four cars finished inside the top ten. In the Am category, Rice continued his recent run of rostrum finishes with a fine drive to second in class.

Race two saw further celebrations for the team as Smalley, Harrison and Rice each produced a repeat performance from earlier in the day, scoring a podium apiece.

There was further reason to be cheerful to as White produced his own seasons’ best result in fifth overall. Unfortunately, an incident for Stanley saw his race come to a premature end.

The weekend’s results mean that Team Redline Racing conclude the 2022 Porsche Carrera Cup GB with the impressive feat of having finished second in the final Pro, Pro Am, Am and Team standings; the only team to have finished in the top two of multiple classes.

Simon Leonard – Managing Director: “It’s been a fantastic end to the year! To come away with no less than six trophies is a brilliant reward for all of the hard work that the team and drivers have put in over the course of the season.

“This year has been packed with plenty of highs and lows but we’ve kept at it and enjoyed a number of wins along the way. To finish second in the final standings across four different classes is testament to the skill and hard work of our team. We’ll come back next year and once again go all-out for championship glory!”

Team Redline Racing will now switch their attention to the final rounds of the Porsche Visit Cayman Islands Sprint Challenge GB, which are poised to take place at Donington Park on the weekend of October 15/16.
