SWEET SUCCESS AT HOME FOR TEAM REDLINE RACING AT CROFT

Team Redline Racing left their home event at Croft this past weekend (18/19 September) with a trio of Porsche Carrera Cup GB podium finishes to their name, including a brilliant overall victory thanks to Dan Cammish.

The Teesside squad made the very short trip to Darlington hoping to add to their five victories across the three classes in 2021. Cammish once again led their challenge at the front of the field, with Micah Stanley and Jake Rattenbury fighting for Pro Am honours and newcomer Marcus Fothergill representing the squad as an Am entrant.

The Duckhams-backed Porsche of Cammish was the car to watch in qualifying on Saturday afternoon, the returning multiple Carrera Cup GB champion setting the pace in the crucial timed session to grab pole position.

In front of the home fans, the Teesside team got the result they wanted on local ground as Cammish blasted away from the front, and hung on throughout the 15-lap encounter to pip title rival Lorcan Hanafin to a long-overdue second race victory of the season.

Cammish then came very close to making it a double win in race two. From fourth on the grid, Cammish made his move at Tower for third on lap one and inherited second place, before pressuring the race leader all the way until the chequered flag.

Although missing out by a mere three tenths of a second in the end, it would move the Redline ace into an eight-point championship lead.

In Pro-Am, Rattenbury bounced back from a difficult qualifying to charge his way back up from the rear of the field to fourth in class, only to better that with a superb improvement up to second place in Sunday’s second race of the weekend.

While the Welshman made it three podium finishes for the local team, Monaco-based Stanley was unlucky not to add to the team’s collection.

His pace was strong in qualifying and left him second in Pro-Am, just over a tenth of a second off the class pole time. A stall at the start of the first race cost him, but he charged back up the field to seal fifth place. A podium finish looked on the cards in race two as Stanley chased Rattenbury, but a spin dropped him to fourth in class.

Am entrant Fothergill meanwhile also challenged for podiums in both races, finishing fourth in the opening race after running third for much of the contest, before unfortunately retiring from the second.

“Dan needed to get those results and he was brilliant all weekend, so we’re delighted to be able to go home with a victory under our belt and the championship lead heading into the crucial run-in.

“Jake showed his race craft with some great comeback performances, while Micah was unlucky as he showed great pace all weekend and deserved something to take home. Likewise, a good start for Marcus and he was always in contention for a podium in his own class.”

The Redline Racing team are next in action as early as this weekend (25/26 September) for more Porsche Carrera Cup GB action, as the championship heads to Silverstone for two races on the shorter national circuit.
