With a 13-point lead in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup Pro-Am Drivers’ Standings, Strakka Racing heads to the season finale of the championship with the Pro-Am title in its sights.

The Northamptonshire based outfit, which is an official racing team of Mercedes-AMG, will field three Mercedes-AMG GT3 cars in the three-hour endurance race at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Spain, on 30 September 2018.

The Pro-Am #42 car will be driven by the team’s founder Nick Leventis, Lewis Williamson and Chris Buncombe. Strakka Racing will also enter two cars in the Pro class, with Max Goetz, Maxi Buhk and Alvaro Parente at the wheel of the #43. The #44 Mercedes-AMG GT3 will be driven by Christian Vietoris, Felipe Fraga and Oliver Rowland.

Entering the final race weekend of the season, Nick Leventis, Lewis Williamson and Chris Buncombe lead the Pro-Am Drivers’ Standings on 87 points after finishing in the top four in all the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup races so far this season. Meanwhile, Strakka Racing is second in the Endurance Cup Pro-Am Teams’ Standings, just five points behind the current leaders.

QUOTES

Nick Leventis, Strakka Racing Founder and Car #42 Driver: “We’ve had a positive season in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 and we’re excited to be heading to Barcelona in a strong position for the Pro-Am Drivers’ title. With two podiums under our belts, we’re hoping we can continue our run of results and be challenging at the front to keep us ahead in the standings. It would be an amazing way to round out our first season as a customer Mercedes-AMG racing team!”

Jay Davenport, Strakka Racing Director: “The Pro-Am class in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup is extremely competitive with many top line teams and drivers so we are delighted to be in with a chance of both the Drivers’ and Teams’ championships in our first year with Mercedes-AMG. We will be pushing hard for the best results possible in both this and the Pro class and we hope to end our European season on a high at Barcelona.”
