Strakka Racing is pleased to confirm that it will compete in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup in 2019. The Silverstone-based squad will continue to operate as a customer team of Mercedes-AMG, running GT3 cars, after a successful first season with the German marque.
The 2018 season saw Strakka embark on a successful new relationship with Mercedes-AMG. Across the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup and Intercontinental GT Challenge races that it competed, the team secured a Pro-Am victory at the Laguna Seca 8 Hours, four second-place podium finishes in the Pro and Pro-Am categories and a title win, with Nick Leventis, Chris Buncombe and Lewis Williamson taking the Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup ProAm Drivers Championship.
In 2019, the Blancpain Endurance GT Series Endurance Cup will comprise five races on some of the world’s most stunning circuits; Monza, Silverstone, Paul Ricard, Spa Francorchamps and Barcelona, with the series’ jewel in the crown, the Spa 24 Hours, taking place on 27-28 July.
Jay Davenport, Strakka Racing Director: “We’re delighted to be announce our plans for 2019. After a successful first year with Mercedes-AMG, we’re aiming at an even better second year relationship. We’re heading into the new year after ending this season with a win, so that gives us some good momentum. We’re looking to defend the Pro-Am Drivers Championship title in the Endurance Cup. At the moment we are evaluating whether we add a Silver or Am car to our line-up and we will announce our car and driver line-up in due course.”
