The SSR Performance motorsport team will be gunning for success in the DTM alongside Italian super sports car manufacturer Lamborghini in the future. Team owner Stefan Schlund has signed a partnership agreement with the luxury brand. The Munich-based team will contest its second season in the DTM in 2023. After working with Porsche, Schlund is now hungry to bring more trophies to the company headquarters with Lamborghini. The site in the Freimann area of Munich, which was built in 2020, is currently home to the ADAC GT Masters champion and runner-up trophies, as well as the DTM winner’s champagne belonging to Dennis Olsen, who won last year’s race at Spa-Francorchamps for SSR Performance.
Works drivers Mirko Bortolotti (Italy) and Franck Perera (France) will drive the Munich-based team’s two brand-new Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2. Italian Alessio Deledda lines up in the third SSR Performance car. Lamborghini Head of Motorsport, Giorgio Sanna, is delighted with the new team lining up with the Bull logo: “It is fantastic to have found such a professional, successful and extremely committed team as SSR Performance for a strategic collaboration. The high technical level with regard to racing and production cars has impressed us from the outset, and we are looking forward to the first DTM race together at the end of May.”
Schlund is also impressed by the strengths of the new partner. “We are taking on our next challenge. I love a challenge and am all the happier with the new partnership with Lamborghini. Together with Giorgio Sanna, we have put together a fantastic package for Lamborghini and SSR Performance. Our line-up of Mirko Bortolotti, Franck Perera and Alessio Deledda is an excellent one. There is a lot of hard work to do over the coming weeks and months. We want to achieve success and score valuable points towards the championship from race one,” says Schlund.
DTM fans can also look forward to the Huracán GT3 EVO2 with optimised aerodynamic solutions, which has been newly developed this season. “With Mirko, Franck, Alessio and the Huracán GT3 EVO2, we are strong and competitive in every regard. I am very much looking forward to the DTM season and working with Lamborghini. The whole team is highly motivated and, together with Lamborghini, we want to win races and have a say in the title race. It will also be good to get back out on the racetrack and welcome the fans,” says SSR team principal Mario Schuhbauer. The DTM is seen as one of the best GT3 series in the world.
