Laurens Vanthoor (BEL) and Dennis Olsen (NOR) are ready for the next challenge in the DTM. At Spa-Francorchamps, the two Porsche 911 GT3 R drivers will be chasing points. Olsen had recently celebrated the second place at the Nürburgring.
SSR Performance has secured podium finishes at both the Norisring and the Nürburgring, showing that the team is competitive. The next DTM stage on the 7.004-kilometre circuit at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium) is now on the agenda. The two SSR Performance Porsche 911 GT3 R are maneuvered through the 19 corners by factory drivers Laurens Vanthoor and Dennis Olsen. The world-famous Eau Rouge causes a stir among fans and drivers with an 18% incline.
The Munich squad is currently in third place in the DTM team championship. However, with six races remaining, nothing is decided. The focus in Belgium is clearly on renewed top positions for the #92 and #94 in the hard-fought field of drivers.
The team is supported by the EDAG Group, Allianz Generalvertretung Wolfram Blank e.K., Becker Carbon, DC AVIATION, Hochwald Sprudel, itWheels by tyremotive, KW Suspensions, Laco watches, MOTUL, NIMEX, Riemensperger Mechanische Werkstätte GmbH and Valuniq Business Consulting.
Stefan Schlund, team owner: “We are slowly but surely entering the final spurt of the season – there are still three race weekends ahead of us and after last Sunday’s podium we are coming to Spa with positive expectations and clear goals. On Laurens’ home track we want to collect a lot of points. The track has technical sections, but the driver and team are focused and I’m confident we can continue to build on our points tally here.”
Mario Schuhbauer, team principal SSR Performance: “We are highly motivated for Spa and hope to be able to drive up front with both cars. In the last three events we want to do our best again and fully exploit our potential.”
Laurens Vanthoor, driver #92: “Spa is my home race, so to speak, so I’m hoping for a good weekend all the more. The races at this track are usually very exciting and offer the fans a lot of action.”
Dennis Olsen, driver #94: “I’m looking forward to Spa! We had a good weekend at the Nürburgring, so we want to continue this trend. It’s important to finish in the points, another podium would obviously be even better. The circuit is completely different from the Nürburgring, the high-speed corners will make it exciting. I don’t think it will be easy, but we will do our best. The team is very motivated!”
