M1 GT Racing is set to kick off the season in the Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) program at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg with American driver Jason Bell in the new Audi R8 LMS GT4. After working together in the GTA and SprintX programs in 2017, the duo is ready to shift focus for the 2018 season in their quest for victories and end of the year championship.
“We are ready to start the 2018 season at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg and are happy to have Jason Bell back with us for a new challenge in the Audi R8 LMS GT4,” explained Technical Director Remi Lanteigne. “We had successful events with Jason last year and are ready to get back to the track to showcase our team, our program and the new Audi.”
M1 GT Racing and Bell participated in the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg Media Day, alongside Pro Mazda Presented by Cooper Tires driver Oliver Askew, Verizon IndyCar Series champion Will Power, and St. Pete city officials, which was the first event to kick off the new season. The team is now ready to get back to the Streets of St. Petersburg for some on track, wheel-to-wheel action.
Lanteigne added, “After preparing for the 2018 season with a new car, we are ready to get on track and truly kick the season off with Jason Bell. We had a great test last week at the NOLA Motorsports Park facility and were very happy with the progress. We are confident that we have a strong team and will be able to deliver in the season opener.”
With the 2018 Pirelli World Challenge set to kick off this weekend, March 9-11, the on track competition will take place in two separate race events. Live timing can be seen on the Pirelli World Challenge website at www.World-Challenge.com.
